I just found the PAYD offer on NU's home page and clicked the link (I was looking for pensions, but curiosity won!). I looked through the 'quick check' list - and the Audi A8 is specifically excluded from this insurance, the last one one of the conditions.

Anybody know why?

I came on to MSE to mention this and noticed this thread so that's why my query is tagged on here.

It's of no benefit to me, as I only drive about 6 or 7000 miles a year and my present insurance cost me an effective £40 after the £130 Quidco rebate and Greeen Flag breakdown cover (which I would normally pay for) are taken off.

A RAC man came, and fortunately, my car did its hooting as usual, so was able to convince him:cool: He said the unit might be faulty, and arranged a re-fitting. It was re-fitted later that week, and the hooting has disappeared. I can still hear a faint one now and again, but is much much softer, so all in all, success:o
