Where I live I sometimes get a card through the door when I know I was in the house and no one rang the bell also my postman will sometimes leave a recorded package in the outer porch unsigned for, again I can be in the house but I find that rather than ring the bell he opens the outer door and leave package there whether they are normal post or recorded!

So you have to ask what is the point, and when they return back to the depot with their little card (which does not have my tag on that was supposed to be removed from the recorded delivery label and put on their card) who's signature is on it or do the depot ever check?

SD and Tracked are easily checked and will auto flag if the tracking is correct.
With SD thats an open track EG when it sticks at out for delivery.
with Tracked(its a newer product) its any tracking failure at any point in the route.
RD carries nne of this due the nature of the product.
it requires sender/recipient to flag that.

99% of the time the recorded items I send or receive are not processed correctly and not tracked or even signed for.

How big's your sample size? As you've claimed '99% of the time' I'm going to assume it's a least one hundred items (else 99% is a figure you simply wouldn't be able to arrive at).

So you've sent and received at least 100 signed for items, only one of which was actually signed for and yet you're still paying for this service??

    More fool you then. :D

Print a label and attach it next to the shipping address.
(This worked wonders for me, from around 20% to well over 90% are now signed for).
    Like so;-

    SIGNATURE REQUIRED
Customer: You have paid extra for a more
secure postal service. If this package has
been delivered and you were not asked
to sign for it then please advise us.

    Exactly!

It isn't more secure but people are conning themselves into thinking it's more secure.

Don't assume Post Office management will be interested if you report recorded delivery items being delivered without signature.

I imagine they wouldn't, since Post Office have nothing to do with delivering post

I have sent 5 RD's this year, and two were signed for on delivery.

Got a book of 6 first class stamps for each one that wasn't from RM!
