Royal Mail Recorded Signed For (RSF)- Biggest Scam Ever?

99% of the time the recorded items I send or receive are not processed correctly and not tracked or even signed for.
This has happened for several years and I am amazed that nothing has ever been raised about this with the regulatory bodies.
RM did improve things a little and do now scan the item when posted. At this point your item should show:-
1. 'working its way through our network'
next steps should be:-
2. 'received at XXX depot, out for delivery'
then
3. 'item delivered' or 'a card was left'
with likely signature details shortly after delivery.
If you dont get passed step one then RM have not done what they promised and they simply advise you to make a claim.
NB. Compensation is the same for standard postage as it is for Signed for - 100 x the cost of a standard postage stamp but costs you more.
For reliable, prompt delivery use Special Delivery

Recorded is not a tracked service, so all they say it will do is obtain a signatur eon arrival, anything else is a bonus.
Like you nothing I send recorded gets signed for so I don't bother.
also compensation for all standard mail, including recorded did not go up in the last mail increase, and is still £46.
Special delivery is a fully guaranteed service but costs a great deeal more than standard mail, so is not really useful unless you are sending something valuable or not covered with standard mail.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. thanks
didnt realise they'd stopped the 'at local depot' and 'out for delivery' messages.
it still needs a case bringing against Royal Mail though, people aint getting what they paid for and dont even think they realise.PLAY GOOD!

If an item doesn't get a signature then a claim can be made and the 95p refunded. That is the only part of the service that has failed, assuming item arrives of course that is.
Incidentally this is what RM say about the service:

If you have an important item to deliver, our Recorded Signed For™ service gives you complete peace of mind with proof of posting and an electronic copy of the signature available online
If you read the FAQs it is also quite clear that this is not a guaranteed service and is not suitable for urgent or valuable items.

On the rare occasions that we don’t get a signature for any other reason, we'll refund your money.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. People will always use services without reading even the slightest bit of info about what they are paying for. RM are clear about the service, if people still wish to use recorded then that is their decision.
You cannot stop people using a service if they wish to, just as you can't force anyone to do even a slight bit of research before they spend money.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
