Why do you need to buy a FreeSat box?
Thought you currently had Sky????? (and had cancelled it?)
All you need to do is buy a FreeSat card (£25) when your card cuts off - which could be months!
From: http://www.sky.com/shop/freesat/home/faq/#3
I already have Sky digital satellite equipment - what else do I need?
All you need to gain access to the free channels available on the digital satellite platform is a Freesat from Sky viewing card, which costs just £25. If you’d like to access the interactive services available, you’ll also need a working phone line. To purchase a viewing card please phone Sky on 08448 244 400.
Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
2016 Sell: £125/£250
£1,000 Emergency Fund Challenge #78 £3.96 / £1,000Vet Fund: £410.93 / £1,000
Debt free & determined to stay that way!0 -
Hi Rising, that one is just a receiver. You can't pause or rewind with that one.
The card is for Freesat with Sky which to get the pause and rewind functions you still have to pay Sky £10 pm.
The freesat box we're looking for is a HD PVR which records, pauses, rewinds and is HD (confusing i know)
Freesat is different to Freesat with Sky apparently..
Why can't you drive? (sorry you have probably said somewhere down the line)
 At knowing someone in the next village that would be a little too close for comfort....DEBT FREE AND PROUD'Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt'0 -
Now .... before you read the following - I apologise
- I have my need / want / essential head on!

Do you not have a DVD recorder or VCR?
You can record to them ..... pause / rewind isn't an essential
£100+ to be able to pause / rewind .... *cough* *splutter* ....... errrrr that's a pre LBM comment! :eek:Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Funny thing is no, we don't have a VCR or DVD player :rotfl: never have had as we've always had Sky.
I know to pause, rewind and record doesn't sound essential but as we both work full time and have no ( i mean zero) entertainment budgetwe think of it as money well spent. Also the fact that actually over 12 months we will still be saving money :money:
You're not getting close to the wind Risingyou know me, i say what is on my mind right or wrong so when someone does the same it's :T

:rotfl:ahhhhhh  Honestly! Wow!
I know what you mean about that - my Sky is my entertainment budget- I don't go out (literally - one night out this year .... various reasons) - I do have it incl in my SOA but it covers things like stuff for the garden etc:o

Well, we've decided we're going to buy a 2nd hand Humax
:)
If we can get one for £100 ish then this will pay for itself in 3 months once we cancel Sky so :T
Not getting far with the debts this monthas DH thought he'd get overtime all month but only got 2-3 weeks worth of work and we had to stock the freezer up last week and couldn't make any extra payments.
Ah well, next month will be better i'm sure. Tight Christmas though this year and we're not going to spend nearly as much as we used to.
My mum gives us £75 towards christmas food so this will pay for Christmas day food and drink and also the New year snacks and drink (we don't go out so we have a little buffet at home with the kids ,sad i know)
The plan for the next few months is;
pay extra £300 off DH card as 0% ends in Feb
Apply in DH name for new 0% card and hope he gets it to trans the balance....
Once transferred, pay all extra payments on my card where the 0% ends in May. Get this balance down then apply for 0% in my name to trans the balance.
This will then put all our debts on 0% for another 13 months at least
Aim to pay off these 2 cards by end of 0% leaving just the third and final card to go which is still on long term 0%
:T
That's the plan, fingers crossed he gets approved...DEBT FREE AND PROUD'Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt'0 -
