I know how you feel! When we became debtfree I thought that we would be rolling in it, but after replacing lots of things around the house that we desperately needed and a few treats too we had very little left to play with! I also started lots of pots too so we wouldn't be caught out again so most of our spare money goes in there now ;)

Once we buy our home we'll be joining you on the mortgage free journey I think :D xxx

 I have a little pot of savings too :D

I think we too will be needing to do a bit of spending when we are debt free, few small things need doing around the house and I just keep thinking wait just a couple more months :rotfl:

You are so nearly there Fae :) not long now, just over 3 months

Well dog went to the vet today and was given the thumbs up. Cost us £37.50 for jabs but managed to get worming tablets on Animed for £1.55 :money: great website :)
We are now saving for America and it has been booked  just got to save to pay for it all now :rotfl:
Have managed to save £1570 so far and have another savings pot of £1000 for emergencies.
We have calculated that we will need to save £800 pm until we go to have the amount of ££ we would like  which is what we were averaging on our debt payments.
Still no haircut booked for me yet but on the mega plus side no more debt and have not gone into our overdraft once :j

We've managed this month to pay for my sons prom suit and go out for dinner as a family (as well as my sisters kids) fathers day present (whiskey set) for my dad, and dogs vet bill.

It's easy to see that without planning, how to get into so much debt.

Good luck to everyone and i'm looking forward to your debt free threads :T

    Hello all :)
Well, not much happening here. However, it appears that Hubby now has 15K in an account from his mum :D She had saved 20k for him (for the future) and had given him 5k towards his car, she then decided he may as well sign it over into his name now so although it's there, it's not for spending IYSWIM. Good to know though in case of an emergency.
4.8k in the America savings pot now and my lovely mum bought me a Terramundi savings pot which we are putting a note a week into (the denomination of the note depends on how skint we are!):o

I also have £1200 in a separate savings account for emergencies and luxuries (we all went out for dinner last weekend)
It feels like we are now free! Although i know we still have to be careful not to slip back into our overspending ways.
Hubbys aunt also has around 3k saved for him in a linked savings account (her name and his name) so all in ,all on paper anyway, we have 24k :T:eek:
That is madness. Even though out of that only the £1200 is available :rotfl:
We are thinking to pay off the holiday ££ as soon as we have it (balance around 5.7k) so next month. I always find it easier that way.

On the negative side we have been slipping into our overdraft now and again but that is just down to the fact i have been trying to save too much in a short space of time. Only by £50-70 but i am finding myself having to transfer money over from the savings pot (online)

Anyhoo things are good right now. Fingers crossed they stay that way :)
