  • I'd be happy for this to be locked. I've had loads of useful suggestions to consider, so thanks everybody for those. That's really what I wanted- some ideas, pointers, suggestions in terms of career direction after a masters - the whole 2:2 business was a bit beside the point really.

    Hey Lady-Fuschia

I have a 2:2 as well. At first it bothered me for ages and then I didn't really care. I was doing well, 2:1s and 1sts and then I failed my major project (the result of the whole third year). It hasn't stopped me getting a design assistantship, and I am also about to finish my part-time MA in cultural studies.

I am like you, and find it hard to know 'what to do.' At the end of the day you can imagine what some careers are like, and then when you get there it isn't right for you. I have been getting round thid by doing loads of work experience. I got a part time assitantship in the area I wanted to work in, and then used the contacts I have got to know through work to drum up some experience which I do on my days off. My boss has been really great about this as I have basically agreed to stay on with him for another year.

We work a lot with the press - have you ever thought of journalism? These areas could be very fruitful for work experience, as you can also assist freelancers as well as working for the bigger companies.

Better get used to doing boring stuff for free though - but I think it pays off in the end.

You will have to let us know how you get on.

    P.s. I reckon an MA trumps a 2:2.....
