I feel you have a lot to learn about the subject matter of this forum, mikey.

I feel this forum is a surreal place, with no footing in reality, but your forum none the less. Some points may be valid, and some information is good, but still requires a lot of filtering. But I feel you need too stay here, and not to try to spill into other forums, or as had happened, you need to be swept back.

Thanks for that, but NO, we spread the word to try to educate people about this scam.

And the CAB give such terrible biased advice if newbies ask them about a private parking ticket, it's shocking.

Do you know why they give that wrong advice? Because it was actually written by...the parking companies! You couldn't make it up!
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

So why not work with them, and the CAB, to put a sticky at the top, referring them to this forum, or with the correct advice. Why troll that forum instead?

Well, so long as all parking issues get moved to this board, the problem is resolved. CAB are usually pretty good about advice but when it comes to private parking, they are shockingly bad.

    Keep moving them, Wendy!

Why is that? CAB do have "official" guidance on parking and a past history of answering such questions as part of their service.

You need to make the sarcasm a little more obvious, pogofish! A newbie might think they could trust CAB advice on this issue..

We could with equal force say you are trolling this forum.

None of us get paid anything for helping people. The CAB do get paid and on this subject their advice is nonsense. Because, as Coupon has said, it was supplied to them by the parking companies themselves and they merely repeat it!

We can't put a sticky up on this MSE forum let alone a CAB one!

And attempts have been made on forums for several years, until we are blue in the face. Posters on here and on CAG and on pepipoo have complained to the CAB about their advice and that of 'Consumer Focus'. Nothing changed.

And complaints have been made to Trading Standards as well.

And complaints made to the Office of Fair Trading.

And complaints to the DVLA including from Watchdog in connection with a programme in 2010, also in the National Press:

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/watchdog/2012/03/observices.html

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/news/8432227/DVLA-selling-drivers-details-to-unscrupulous-car-parking-firms.html

And complaints to MPs, submissions connected with the Freedoms Act coming in which for some mad reason will give PPCs the right of 'registered keeper liability'. We all got a similar fob-off response along the lines of 'be glad because clamping is being banned' (yep, that's great but not if you let the clampers become rogue ticketers with carte blanche to make up 'offences' against any registered keeper about any car from which they care to collect the numberplate!)

And evidence was given by an ex-Police poster to the Parliamentary Transport Committee, about the scandal of the DVLA enabling the scam.

So we do try to work within the system - but we also have to shout quite loud and spread the word about the scam whenever we can.

    But back to the CAB!

They have lots of subjects to cover of course (we do realise that!). It's just horrendous when we read threads from newbies who say 'I got a private parking ticket and I went to the CAB, who told me to write to the company and appeal it because there may well have been a contract if there were signs up...'

Which is PPC spiel, written by a PPC owner who was also a CAB adviser!

Just seeing there was a new CAB board got some regulars interested in righting a wrong, that's all. Maybe after a few days we will all think of a more united approach to try to change things.

    :)

You could indeed. But that's the problem. You're so up yourself, and adored by likeminded cronies, you forget I am entirely your equal as a member on these forums, whereas the CAB have been invited on by the owners of the website, and you have been unceremoniously dumped back into a small corner and been told to get lost by the moderators. So, either get your heads out of your backsides, admit your approach is entirely wrong, stop trolling, and work with them, or languish in a backwater by yourselves, whlist thinking how unfair it is we can't understand how wonderful you are. Supply the truth, work with them, or shut up. Your choice really.

    You dont understand the problem.

The CAB takes government money. Just like Disabled Motoring UK. Because of that, they are unable to tell the truth , and have to repeat the propaganda told to them by the 'oifficial' bodies the SIA and the BPA.

The CAB has been at odds with the information supplied by many other places such as here, pepipoo, watchdog, CAG, and many barristers and solicitors for many years

They will always be unable to tell the truth, as long as they take government money.
