Does anyone NOT have wedding insurance?

Slightly concerned as we sort of never got round to doing it...and have now paid a few deposits (including the venue!) so if we got it now, they won't be covered.

Not sure what's best to do...

    We don't. By the time I thought about it and got a quote (OH doesn't care) we had paid most if not all deposits and nothing would be covered so didn't bother. Have made a point of using a credit card to pay wherever we can and picking things like dresses and rings up as soon as they are ready.

    I contacted a few and those that replied said that any monies paid before the insurance was taken out would nnot be covered but any paid after would. May be worth contacting them to see

    We do. We had paid deposit for ceremony venue, but nothing else when we booked. Now we have paid second instalment it covers venue as well. With all the uncertainty with companies and the recession I wasn't going to take the risk! (our ceremony venue is also council owned- so REALLY unlikely to go under! :rotfl:)

    OMG, really?

    Sorry but I got mine asap, there are way too many horror stories on here of suppliers going bust, venues into administration etc to risk it, especially for the sake of the £25 it cost me!

    Very happily married on 10th April 2013 :D

    I got insurance before paying deposits for anything to make sure everything was covered- the insurance would only cover 2 years in advance so I had to explain to our venue and delayed paying them the deposit until we had got our insurance set up.

    I think it is still worth getting even if you have already made some deposits. Depending on the policy, you can still be covered if you or an immediate member of the bridal party is ill and you need to postpone the wedding, and if you still have things left to organise that cost more than the premium plus the excess then it makes sense to me to get it.

    It's not going to cost me £25, it's going to cost me more like £125.

    I don't get it. I don't understand the level of policy we need, what is the difference between 'cancellation cover' and 'rearrangement cost'...etc etc. I just don't get it.

    I know insurance is so complicated. I'm thinking cancellation cover is if you have to cancle things in full. The rearrangement cover cost is probably if you have to go elsewhere & it costs you more then you get the difference back - thats how I understand it anyway but could be wrong. Have you looked at ecclesiastical they are quiet good as you can tailor your own policy.

    Ecclesiastical is what I'm looking at and what I don't understand. There is 'Cancellation or curtailment' and 'rearrangement'. I don't know what level I need for each of these. ARGH.

    I think this is why I never got it the first time I looked into it!

    We haven't but our wedding is costing us very little.

    The evening venue is £1500 which I know is a lot but we don't pay the full amount until the week before and only paid £100 deposit.

    Everything else is stuff we have now so can be moved to another venue etc.

    I know your wedding is very expensive and so I would be more inclind to pay for the insurance as if something goes wrong it's more money for you to loose (if that makes sense?)
