Well, if you need a hand with the weekly shop, the Old Style board has the Grocery Challenge thread where you set a budget and mealplan, work out what can be done with storecupboard stuff and shares recipes and advice - and try to keep within a budget. It helps. :)

I never used to venture out from there, as it happens, but I had my eyes opened recently and felt the need to do more. :)

Thanks! Just subscrubed...it's just what I was looking for! I've already been mooching on approved foods and watching bread makers on ebay (just waiting for my items to sell and will invest in one!)

Grocery bill is the single biggest thing I have to bring under control in my quest to be DF...its where all my energy is going currently!

Busy making a "store cupboard" list and keeping an eye out for good bulk buy deals...but payday isnt here yet so will have to wait for now!

Today's plans are to cook for the week ahead, put more items on ebay, clean house....oh and thats amongst kids swimming, birthday parties etc....phew! I'm exhausted already!!!:rotfl:

Wow, sounds like you've got a busy one today! My GC isn't going too badly but need to do a big shop tomorrow/day after and will have to spend out on meat then. I think one of the biggest things for me was when I started using less meat in meals and bulking them out with veggies - healthy and cheaper. There's 2 of us, so I get the 3 for £10 meat deals and break it down into portions - basically breaks down to costing roughly 50p per portion of meat (at the last time I worked it out).

Good luck with ebay and the cleaning - well, the cleaning could take a back seat ;) It's Sunday!

    Have a good one.

Had a good day yesterday...made cottage pie, cheesy pasta sauce, fish pie, 8 portions of curry paste and a chilli! Phew...no wonder I'm tired today!!

On the downside we bought a bottle of wine we really didnt need to buy so that blew the NSD!

Oh well, no sainthood yet but will dust myself down today and put a smile on my face and remember that today is a new day and now into my 3rd week with no spends on credit card and the books are balancing!

    Happy Monday all!

That's great news! Well done on that and the batch cooking session (which sounds yummy by the way :D )

Another 115.93 cleared today-also checked my balances and found I owe a lot less than I thought, so signature updated! Total cleared so far mounting up...will try and scrimp a little more off the shopping this week and send this off too!

Ebay sales now total 48 quid too...waiting for that to knock off the mountain too!

Am still feeling positive and proud of myself for lasting this long ...I know if I can keep this going for longer than a month it will become a habit and then I'll be more likely to be DF!

    So far so good...
