Ok..up early, a little sleepy, but sun is shining and I'm feeling positive....I'd really like to attempt a NSD today but I'm off on a long drive to see a friend and its just been her birthday..we dont usually buy gifts but feel obliged to turn up with at least a small bunch of flowers..can i resist or even think of something which involves no spending at all??
Have you got any ingredients in to make a cake or cookies etc, or anything of your own that you can re-gift to her?Debts @ LBM £23,729.31. Debts @ 08/04/2016 £0 :j

Just wanted to wish you good luck. Your story sounds so familiar to mine and I too want to break the cycle of debt for my children.
Have you tried snowballing (try whats the cost). It will show you which debt to try and pay off first to save yourself as much interest as possible.SPC #1813

Hi please let me be lucky - no unfortunately I havent but have just been inspired...I have a gorgeous plant in the garden (i cant remember the name) but it attracts butterflies in the millions which I think her kids would really appreciate...so have already taken a cutting and have wrapped up the bottom in pink wrapping paper...get me....:)!!!:T
Hi luna lady...yes have tried that so many times but I get so impatient when it doesnt tell me what i want it to ...ie that i'll be debt free soon!! So i've decided on working on clearing one debt this year (294 on OH tesco card) and budgeting really really well. I've now completed a month by month budget until the end of the year including all the big one offs planned for so i have no temptation at all to put anything on credit!!
:A
Have decided to definately cancel the sharesave and use the money to clear the wardrobes and part of the barclaycard ..I'll then have an extra 200pm to service debt/save for big one off bills....
Now just have to work on those slips ups like the 10.83 one yesterday....I'm thinking of writing MSE mantra and sticking it to my debit card so i can ask myself "do i really need it or do i just want it?" before i hand over my card!!
I'm also thinking of taking out food/petrol/spending money in cash when i get paid next and using that as a pot to budget from rather than using my debit card...is any one doing that at the moment? Does it work for you?
Am thinking that physically handing over cold hard cash might be a better deterrent.....
Thanks all for the support so far...am feeling about the most motivated to bust this debt that I have ever felt!!!!LBM 8/6/12

Hi Joanne, i recently decided to make currys from scratch and googled some recipes, came across this site-
http://menuinprogress.com/search/label/indian
I have made the pathia which is hot and very yummyhave also made the rogan josh which is nice.
You need quite a lot of spices etc... to start with which could add up if you dont have them but asda do most for 50p. i use half the base sauce instead of 1/3 as i cook big batches. when i make the pathia i add a sweet potato, peppers, extra onion, spinach and green lentils. it is one of the nicest currys i have ever had (if i say so myself :rotfl:)
I generally buy frozen peppers, spinach etc... and buy a big bag of onions from somewhere like aldi. once you have bought the spices it works out nice and cheap:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j0 -
Hi there - I'll be following your diary with interest
Was going to mention the Old Style boards - there's good resources there for recipes and whatnot. Don't worry about the nacho moment - every path has a bump in it now and then. I love reading the storecupboard threads about how to make something from what you've already got.
I'll be subscribing.

Thank you for the spot sistafromanothermista....I'd put in the yearly figures for car costs from my spreadsheet i keep at home..I've deleted wrong SOA and loaded correct one...phew...not quite as bad as first thought....
Sharesave has 2k in it...am thinking of cashing in and using to clear credit card...loan is what i really want rid of but HSBC wont let me make lump sum repayments...
Phew :rotfl:
I was wondering what sort of car you were drivingDEBT FREE AND PROUD'Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt'0 -
The cutting was a lovely idea, I would be so impressed if someone brought me one :money:
Hope you had a fabulous day, I am about to join you on the old style boards, although I find that I struggle to really save money on the food as we don't have a freezer
Keep up the good money saving work
