    Hello.

Need some advice please. we are now trying to get respite for a week so my mom can go on holiday, with me and my son(September hopefully) Now the Lady who comes from the Alzheimers Society says she needs a holiday, and she said not to tell my step dad where he's going! Not sure if she means when he goes to the day centre or a home for a week! Also that he has to go! My mom is very concerned abt this... how he will behave when left in respite for a week and how he will be towards her when he comes home! She is going to ring the guy from Social services to see how much notice they need.... anyone had any experience of this?

It depends on how bad he is. A friend's father had to go into residential care while his wife had an eye operation. She realised that she couldn't cope having him back home so they told him that the doctor said his wife needed a bit longer to recuperate from the operation.

He had no sense of how long it had been since the operation and he was happy with the idea that he would come home while being very well looked after in a good home.

He has no sense of time, but am unsure whether he would be as happy.
