how long were you comping before winning anything?

yes I did read it, but it was really long so it probably didnt all go in.
The question regarding offerx and get me a ticket and the like was more asking if anyone has won on them. I was aware that they can create spam (though they haven't for me as I always tick no or not interested in their 'special deals just for me'), but the comp guide didnt say if they were worth entering or not just that they created spam.
I do believe gambling is only a small step away and one which I am going to try not to take (although I have been on here most of the day and neglecting other duties, but thats only housework)
Current Aims: Laptop/PC, decent money, holiday

Big thanks to all who post comps :T:beer:0 -
When I think about the time spent entering, I struggle to justify why I actually enter them. Someone recently said to be that it's no better than gambling and when I really thought about it I knew they were right.
Gambling costs you money though? Comping is free?:T*Thanks to all who posts comps * :j0 -
Yes comping is a game of chance, similar to gambling. However, the majority of comping is free and so comes with minimal risk, not like gambling where people spend thousands of pounds of money, risk running up debts and losing their livelihood.
Zombie I had my first win since restarting today, so I hope you get real lucky too soon xxYou never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

Ahh but comping is addictive, some people spend their whole life comping despit other commitments, family etc so you may not lose money but some people can lose quality of life chasing a win, and maybe repetitive strain injury
Have you tried this one zombieslayer... win a mini football, competition will close when they are all won which I imagine will be tonight

Hi
I have been comping now for nearly 3 years, it took me 9 months to win my first prize, a lipstick, since then i have won 4 small items in all that time.
I enter about 100 comps a day, plus the daily comps.
I try to post comps when i can too
I think i am the unluckiest person that enters competitions (and in life) on here, but i keep trying...
I wish you lots of luck and hope you win something nice soon.0 -
Been doing it since last August, nothing yet. Getting a bit emo about it lately, not fair that I was apparently born with no luck0

Thats why I think its just one step away from gambling. With comping you spend a lot of time chasing a win. You may get lucky and win a few things so you turn your hand to bigger prizes which means gambling and then get addicted there. Or you may be unlucky and not win anything so you try more and more ways to win which leads to spending money on getting that win (ie gambling) and then get addicted there. I think the trick is not to spend any money in trying to get a win and also to limit how long you spend a day entering comps. I know I can quite easily neglect other chores for comping so in that way it isn't far off gambling.
Anyway Im feeling a lot more positive now. Thanks everyone.Current Aims: Laptop/PC, decent money, holiday

I have been lucky enough to have a few small wins but I can imagine that it would get you down to feel you are not winning anything despite the effort you are putting in. Try not to let it get to you. If you can keep comping as a hobby and try to fill your day with other things that make you happy and not keep the main focus on if you are winning or losing. My life is no way near perfect but if I feel low I try to think of all the other ways in which I am lucky, such as having a roof over my head, having people that love me etc...( I know that sounds cheesy!) I'm sure you will have some good luck come your way soon.

I agree that it's a step away from gambling. It's good to take breathers especially if you're not a lucky one, I've haven't been comping this month, have to build up my false hopes again lol.
I definitely feel for those in this thread and outside that never or barely win anything or waited ages, all I can say is that hopefully the long wait means an amazing win like sharon1954 had (congrats and well done btw), like she said I'm not giving up. All this work has to pay off!0 -
Ive entered 78 today :j so definately upping my numbers. I haven't finished, but Im all comped out for today.
Although I got something nice in the post today. Its not a comp win, but I did get a nice cheque for a tax rebate today so it feels like Ive won something. Im now starting to feel the excitement of this comping. It also helps that Ive been looking through the freebies board and bagged a couple of freebies there too.Current Aims: Laptop/PC, decent money, holiday
