I started comping around 5 years ago and it took me about 3 months to win anything, but then I won a Pontins Holiday, £500 worth of Mina Clothes, X factor tickets with backstage passes, £100 Tesco Giftcard and a Jean Paul Gaultier Set with 10 male and female frangrances plus some smaller things.

I seemed to stop comping for a while after that but have some free time as my kids are a bit older so Im trying again and have won NOTHING, nada, zilch

But I look at the IWIWIW pages and the photos post and it keeps me motiviated, I only enter for things I need and that is mainly Cash, a Holiday and a TV or Ipad so not entering too many which I know lowers my chance of winning but I do it on my lunch break at work around 1 hour a day.

Hope you get something soon xx

Don't give up, some of the comps you've entered won't even have finished yet! I was comping for a couple of months before I won.

Where are all these people that you see on the Tv that have won a big house in this country and a couple of smaller houses that they use to go and stay in while on holiday and cars at each home.

I feel lucky that I got a win after only a couple of weeks of comping. I won a box of chocolates from a blog and it gave me the comping bug!

I feel incredibly lucky to have won the prizes I've won and feel for those who put in the effort but still have no wins.

May you all have lots of luck, Emma xx

I think thats just the way life works in general. Some people get a lot of luck and others not so much. I will keep plugging away for a bit, have entered 12 so far today and know there will be some more posted on here by tonight. Im currently looking for work so have quite a bit of free time on my hands, it will keep me out of mischeif :D

i also keep a lookout for the freebies/low cost board as you can get some treats for a low price which are nearly just as good as free :-)
  • zombieslayer25, I started comping about a month ago, entered about 800 so far. Just had my first win there! An instant win this comp: hyflex.eurosport.com I was excited for a second until I realised it was... a pair of protective gloves, lol. I only played for entry to the iPad draw. Ah well, it's a win! Anyway, like you I think why enter if not to win? I'm not disappointed not to have really won anything yet but I think if I still haven't in another few months I definitely will be!
2018 wins: Aspinal of London jewellery box, Boudavida gym outfit, HP Pavilion laptop, The List party tickets, All Points East festival tickets, Kiehls moisturiser, By Terry cc serum, Nars Liquid Bronzer, Benefit highlighter, Nars illuminator, Fresh advanced lip trio set, Cetaphil sample set, signed copy of My Absolute Darling by Gabriel Tallent

Ive been on there too. I have also joined a couple of product testing sites too and should be recieving a couple of things soon. So I suppose its not all bad, I just think I need to actually win something, but when there is well over 1000 people entering I find it very very unlikely that my name will be picked out. Oh well keep trying, you've got to be in it to win it in the first place.

why enter comps if not to win the prize?

I can answer that question, the best thing about entering competitions, in my humbles, is actually not winning prizes, it's the hope of winning.

It's so lovely to get a WEM or a nice surprise delivered, but the reason we plough on in spite of the dry times is because it adds a buzz to life, never knowing what's around the corner.

What others have said to you is spot on. If you focus purely on expecting to get a return for the time you have invested here, you will almost certainly be disappointed.

I have to confess that for me, the postie coming is the highlight of my day. For me, it's why comping is so special, because up to when I started using this forum, I dreaded the post. It was like every day a bill would come, or news of a price rise, and so on. Now, I rush out to see what's there. On days where there is nothing, it's not that big a deal, because there's always tomorrow, next week, or some time when I might strike gold.

And yes, the social aspect of the forum is also lovely - most of the time ;)
I am brave, I am bruised
I am who I'm meant to be
I'm not scared to be seen
    I make no apology
    THIS IS ME!

When you talk down to others it says more about you than them.
  • I get excited at the start of the day wondering if Im going to hear anything either by phone, email or post, but then nothing or I hear somebody else has won something that Ive entered (esp on FB) and it kind of puts a downer on it all. I was really looking forward to yesterday and checking the glamour list and I wasn't on there at all.

You are right there is always tomorrow, next week, the rest of the year etc. I dont look at the comps and think ooh Im entering for an ipad (for example) I really really hope I win it. I think I would use that so I will enter that and generally forget about that particular comp, but its just the constant flow of hearing nothing from anywhere I can't help to wonder if it really is worth it.

Maybe being new doesn't help ATM because Ive not found the social aspect as yet.
