Thanks Tojo. I usually bid late now, but put an early bid in to remind me that something's up for auction  lol

I'll remember that, and thinking about it, and what I bid on or look at, you're probably right ;)

    Thanks.

(This is strange quoting myself  ) Might show up as an edit? lol

    Tojo? Just remind me again.

I've just seen a 'must have' :D and the urge to put in my highest bid is getting the better of me ;)

Bid high and bid late still apply?

STEP AWAY FROM THE KEYBOARD!!! :rotfl:

Bid your max and Bid Late ALWAYS applies :p

After all..... When does the auction end if you bid early? ;)

Yep..... Just the same time it does when you bid late. :D

Bid once.... Bid what you are happy to pay.... And bid late

Tojo Ralph - you are an ebayer after my own heart.

I am a collector, and I know there are some ebayers who are after the same things. I used to wait until an auction had seconds to go, place my maximum bid and wait. Sometimes I got lucky, sometimes I didn't. Mind you, sometimes, I pushed the under bidder to a higher bid, when they thought they might have got the item far cheaper. Now, especially, with auctions closing very late or in the middle of the night, I use a sniping site. It does the job for me, and either I win the auction or I don't.

To me, it is all a bit of fun. There is nothing on ebay I so desperately have to have. If I do, then I go out and buy it.

    Sound advice dollywops ;)

It's just that where these things are I can't get to :(

I feel a 'bid now moment' on the horizon ;)

I know it's not life or death, I just want the thing :D (Don't need it at all lol)

But sometimes they disappear....... remembering an item an item that was being watched that vanished. perhaps the seller thought it was not going to make the price wanted. As no bids on it!

    But I don't list, I just buy! :D

Don't say people can see that too lol
  • Well, anybody who knows your ebay name can see.

If you were collecting the same things as me (say, Denby pottery) I'd look you up, and see if I fancied any of the things you had put an early bid on. I might not have seen some of them when searching ebay because they had been listed under a wrong description, but perhaps you had spotted them and knew what they were. So I'd wait until the end of the auction and put a last-minute bid on, hopefully exceeding your highest proxy bid. Result!

You won't be able to do that to me, because I won't have signalled my interest by putting an early bid in, you'll only be able to find out what closed auctions I've bid on, and that's not a lot of use to you.
