LOL, same here. I check on anyone that outbids me now.
But if they collect a particular item, I just back off.0 -

I love beating a sniper!!!! However the truth of it is that we have both priced our bid to our maximun amount so if I win by 3 or 4p I am delighted!!!! Some times I bid in the dying seconds (now that is exciting!)...sometimes a lot earlier.
My own personal dislike is those who bid 15 times uping the price at the minimun amount!
Och well it takes all sorts...now doubt they hate being beaten in the last 2 seconds!0 -

That's just happened to me!
I've decided to back off
I've a feeling they'll be outbid. 0 -
You can beat the sniper at a lower price than his top bid. It happened to me and I was the sniper! Instead of the normal bidder just bidding his top price of say #10, he places 3 bids. One @ #8, one @ #9 and one @ #10. The snipes bid comes in @ 3 seconds to go @ #8 (even though his top bid is #12) This is then bumped by the normal bid of #9, hence you win @ #9. Hope you can follow this?Don't waste your words I don't need,

I think I can follow that

But I'd still rather not snipe. I might end up with people disliking me as much as I dislike them

Otherwise known as the nibbler...... The very person snipers are attempting to outflank. The nibbler really doesn't know their max, and will bid and bid and bid your proxy up until they beat you, or they realise they are way over their max.............. Unless of course, your max is in the form of a snipe.

The reality is..... the "normal" bidder has a proxy of £10..... The sniper one of £12..... the sniper wins with £11.
It realy doesn't matter a jot that the proxy was increased in stages.
Of course..... A link to one bid history example where the second bidder has a higher bid than the winner, would prove me wrong.
