What's the deal?
Budget airline FlyGlobeSpan is offering flights to Toronto (Hamilton) from £49 per person one-way. When you factor taxes into the bargain, a return ticket can be had for as little as £169, depending on dates and the airport you choose to fly from.
How can I get a ticket?
Go to the FlyGlobeSpan website and check the 'lowest fare finder' table. Offer price flights are available from:
Doncaster/Sheffield
Birmingham (from £55)
London Gatwick
London Stansted
Edinburgh
Newcastle
Liverpool
Exeter
Manchester
Click on flights to 'Toronto YHM' from the airport of your choice in the table, and check which calendar dates the £49 flights are available on. The offer flights begin on 1 May, when FlyGlobeSpan starts operating this new route.
Availability is very limited, especially on return flights; you may have to fly and return to different airports to get the cheapest price.
Combine this deal with a holiday in the US
It's easy, and relatively cheap to get to New York from Toronto, especially if you go by train or coach, so you can easily spend a few days of your trip on the other side of the border, making the most of the favourable exchange rate.

- By Plane Mega-budget US airline JetBlue flies to most US cities, but unfortunately it doesn't fly in Canada. However, it's possible to take a train or coach across the border to Burlington (flights to NY) or Syracuse (flights to Orlando and NY) and jump on a plane there to exploit the ultra cheap fares.
If you're in a hurry and want to fly direct from Toronto, Westjet and Air Transat are a little more expensive, but make for a much quicker trip. Visit each website seperately to look for deals as the airlines aren't listed on any comparison websites. Plus, they occasionally offer web-only specials, which can be well worth checking out. - By Train Amtrak (the US train company) offers return tickets to Penn station (central Manhattan) for $174 (£90). The quickest service takes around 13hrs, so it's best to go overnight.
- By Coach It's slightly cheaper by coach, and the journey takes around 11 hours. Greyhound Buses offer a return ticket online for $161 (£83), but it may be possible to get it cheaper further in advance.

When we went to Toronto we bought a ticket that enabled us to travel around the city on the buses, trolley cars and trains, great value!!What goes around - comes around
give lots and you will always recieve lots0 -
They also do the £49 flights from Glasgow too.
I never know what to write in this bit!!0 -
Be aware that this operates into Hamilton, which is about an hour west of Toronto. The plus is that Hamilton is much closer to Niagara, so perhaps this should be your first port of call!0

Strange seeing as AirTransat are also a budget carrier, and from experience I can say that they are on a par with Easyjet/Ryanair. If you've never tried their in air food then you are lucky and my advice is to keep it that way.The proof that some people really are opinionated and ignorant

Planning to go to Canada later this year. Having read the reviews on this link I won't be booking with FlyGlobeSpan. Thanks - you've saved us a potentially traumatic experience! You might want to checkout this site for FlyGlobespan Passenger comments

Nothing wrong imho with Air Transat, except that Scottish departures usually fly via Manchester, not direct. Thus adding a lot of extra time to the flight, as I think everyone has to get off, then on again. So check the exact route with any airline before booking.
I would suggest the Toronto flights outgoing are nearer 6 hours than 8 from Manchester.ac's lovechild0
