Shopping Centres/High Street Stores near to Train Stations within 2.5hrs of London

I'd suggest Brighton or Portsmouth (i live on South Coast between the two!)
Brighton has the 'named shops' but also a lot of small independant shops, which are great to have a nose around.
Portsmouth itself has all the main shops, in commercial road and Cascades, then at Portsmouth Harbour station you also have Gun Warf keys, which is mainly named shops, but outlet ones, meaning you can grab a bargain.
I personally prefer Brighton, but they are both good.0 -
Derby is within 2.5 hours of London and has a Westfield shopping centre not far from the railway station - the problem is, it is absolute !!!!! so don't waste your time. A truly horrific monstrosity. This space has been intentionally left blank0

Watford - lots within the Harlequin plus a High Street too .0 -
Surprised no one has suggested Leeds. Look out for cheap train tickets especially by booking 12 weeks in advance.0

Birmingham - has several railway stations which are close to the city centre. We have some iconic buildings, a large shopping area, museums etc all close by. We have the usual Primark but we have some independents too.
You could even get a coach from Victoria - to Birmingham Central which will bring you to the new Digbeth Coach Station (this is nicer than the metal shed they used to use) and this is a 10 min walk at most from the city centre itself (all signposted). I do know that the 420 is a coach that travels between London Victoria and Birmingham Digbeth and beyond to Wolverhampton.
You can get a tram from Snowhill Station in Birmingham which will take you to Wolverhampton and towns in between.Semper in faeces profundum variat

Birmingham is fantastic for shopping!
Virgin trains from Euston to Birmingham New Street and your right in the centre of the city!
There is a Selfridges in the Bull Ring which is cool to look around. The Primark is massive and there are lots of nice places to eat.
I use to go there nearly every weekend when me & OH first met & even now when we go back to see MIL2B I try to wangle a trip.
However I would wait till December because then you can take advantage of the amazing German Christmas Market which I love (but then I seriously love Christmas)
