Woooow - Thanks so much guys:T definetly given me some places to go on. Really loved the thought of York as I also heard its a beautiful town, but I checked out the rail fare & it will cost me too much. :( My budget is £35 max.

I will check all of them, those of you that provided links - again - brilliant!!

I know I high street shop is a high street shop anywhere, but I just fancy getting a train somewhere away from London. Shopping, sitting down having abit of lunch more shopping then coming home. Wish I organised it sooner, then could have stayed in a hotel overnight. - Never mind. It will be my birthday treat so definetly will be going somewhere. Thanks so much again. I'll let you know where I settle on.

Based on the shops you're interested in, I'd suggest Basingstoke. It shouldn't be too expensive to get there from London and Festival Place shopping centre is directly opposite the railway station. I'm only recommending the shopping, if you want somewhere interesting.....

Portsmouth Harbour, for Gunwharf Quays, is well within your travel budget. Don't know when you are planning to go, but using Advance Singles from Southern Railway's website the return trip can be done for under £10 (depending on dates and times of travel) from Victoria.
Or a more flexible Southern Trains only Off Peak Day Return costs £22.20 from that same website.

Or consider Megatrain from Waterloo to Portsmouth Harbour... from £1 each way (plus 50p booking fee).

Cardiff, huge shopping centre not far from station

I was going to suggest Cardiff. You have the arcades and the market as well as the usual chain stores just afew minutes walk from the station and it's a direct train from Paddington.

And it looks like we made it once again
Yes it looks like we made it to the end

Norwich? Nice small medieval/modern city. Outdoor market every day and choice of two malls (The Mall and Chapelfield) also nice independent small shops in the Lanes. All very walk-able. One hour fifty mins from Liverpool St (advance tickets from £8).
Just because somebody is certain doesn't mean they are right!

Tunbridge Wells is a lovely town to shop in - but there are a fair number of independent shops, in addition to "the usual suspects". However, as it's less than an hour from London, might be worth a trip.

I don't know Maidstone so well, but many people locally shop there.

Why are people recommending Gunwhalf quays! Its tiny! Portsmouth main area is okay and then walk to Gunwhalf if you want to see the water but there are a lot better places. Gunwhalf bored me completely within 30minutes. (Used to live there).

Shefield meadowhall meets your requirements but depends if you book it in advance if you will get a cheap ticket.

    Cambridge and york are nice.

Milton keynes, Leicester, Cardiff, Newcastle (probably wouldn't get their cheap enough), Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds.
