I think you'll find it is all down to opinion.bell123321 wrote: »Why are people recommending Gunwhalf quays!
Yours is clearly different to mine.
Good job we're not all alike, isn't it? :beer:0 -
Nice bit of discount retail therapy in Hatfield - http://www.thegalleria.co.uk/
Do not go to Hatfield. It's all little boutiques, absolutely not what the OP specified in the original post.
What about Watford. You can even get there on your Oyster card.Pants0 -

I would recommend Norwich too, but the shopping isn't really near the train station... Unless you like a bit of a walk! I'm sure you could hop on a bus though.
Reading is perfect if you want the main chain stores right near the station. It's compact and there's plently of places to eat.0 -
Portsmouth they have a train station 30 seconds away from shops just get off at portsmouth and southsea train station it's 1hr half from london or 2hrs depends what train you get.
Worthing not far from station,Maidstone and people are nice and friendly there.0 -

So true, I used to work just off Oxford Street and the number of people you would see who had obviously travelled into London for the day and would be walking along laden with Primark bags was unbelievable. I used to wonder where they came from and why they bothered, Primark is everywhere. The Primark on Oxford Street is so busy it was never a pleasant experience to go in there.0 -

Thanks so much everyone. Looks like I can travel to loads of places - still weighing it all up - though Manchester is looking likely. Also Norwich, but then Reading also seems cool - hmmm decisions decisions......
Once I can afford it - I will definetly go to York.0 -
How about Canterbury? Lots of shops and loads of history so not dissimilar to York really.0

Shopping centres across the country are pretty generic. Go to a new town and visit the local independent shops instead.
I go to new towns hors away with the same shops it's hard not to most towns are like that.Nothing wrong with that But I always make sure I go to their museum aswell and library so can get cheap books:rotfl:I do my research but when you get there find out they have the same shops. Also to their tourist attractions makes going to a place worthwhile and get to hear different accents.0
