Family childcare when in labour, am I being unreasonable?

You've got a perfectly good plan, but he wants his mother to do it.
Fine, if he knows it all, then he can jolly well execute his plan. He can arrange for his mother to get to your house at the drop of a hat to pick up your daughter.
When you go into labour, you do what you were going to do, i.e. pack, etc. If his mother turns up in x minutes, then great. Otherwise, your daughter goes to your mother.
If he knows so much, then he knows enough to fix it. What he doesn't get to do is criticise, and then sit back moaning while you run around to see that his will be done.0 -
You could stage a race - when labour starts, you each call one granny. First one to your house gets to look after the child :-)0

Bennifred - yeah my Mum is happy to fit in with what I want whenever that may be
I think I will make a note of the advice given here and try and approach him. Unfortunately he is not very approachable but I will try my hardest to put my foot down! Wish me luck!
I think this is where you are going wrong - you are both trying to 'put your foot down' and have your own way.......whereas you both need to start working together and listening.
If he thinks it's your way or no way, of course he is going to be stubborn - you need to look like you're seriously considering his input, then ask practical questions and see if he has a solution for the problems you know will occur. If he doesn't, then your calm suggestion of an alternative
will seem much more sensible and less like he is losing a major battle. Personally, I think whatever has been arranged, a groan and a shout of 'I'm in labour, get my mum now!' will win.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0

Given this particular occasion I don't think you should even need to justify yourself for why you want one solution rather than another. You will be going through labour, not him, and on this day he should man up and try to make you as comfortable and happy as possible. It is a bit sad that he cannot indulge you a little bit when giving birth to his child.0

Hi guys, wanted to update you that after reading the notes/list of points, my OH has finally seen sense! He realises now that having my mum look after our daughter is the best and least stressful option for us all.
Thank you for everyone who offered advice and for listening to me moan!
