Interesting observation .... I'm not sure you are right or wrong - only time will tell.Bringing Happiness where there is Gloom!0 -
You don't get out much do you?
Who do you think employs a Consultant? Yes, correct, a Company .......... think before engaging typing finger, it will stop you looking very unintelligent.
I know what will stop you looking unintelligent Mr Ree.

How would you spot someone in debt nowadays?
In the past it would be easy to look at where they live and their attire.
Today, someone can be completely in the mire yet have a fairly new car, decent clobber on, and the usual plasma/xbox/iphone accessories.
Maybe the real signs are the things like the growth in sales of 'value ranges' at the supermarket.0 -
Yes, two periods of decline are officially classed as recession. However Europe is still declining and there is a large risk if it breaking up harming the UK severely. In the words of Bachman Turner Overdrive, "you ain't seen nothin' yet."0

Says the man that stated -
"And I say REJOICE, the recession is a figment of someone's imagination."
I suspect you live in a "nice" affluent area. Is it any wonder that you don't see much signs of recession ? I would have thought that someone who has your standard of living would be quite intelligent. What I can't work out is why that someone who is reasonably intellignet would simply conclude that there is no recession because they don't see any signs of it.
I see signs of propsperity and sins of austerity. I don't find it diffucult to believe that there is a recession. I suppose this opinion comes from not being blinkered and from meeting a wide variety of people in my work and social life.30 Year Challenge : To be 30 years older. See, I just don't get it.
I was in Town on Sunday - plenty of spending going on.
SOLD signs on all the houses for sale around our way.
House prices holding very firm indeed.
We are receiving payrises well ahead of inflation in my Company - and have done for decades now.
Brand New Cars populate our roads around here and everyone is looking forward to wonderful summer holidays wherever they like.
It's either going to get much worse and it will start hurting here - or it has past us by, if there ever was anything at all to concern oneself about.
And I say REJOICE, the recession is a figment of someone's imagination.
I know- for me personally speaking, last year I earnt more than I ever have previously (and I work for a bank), my mortgage payments are the lowest ever, I have increased the amount I pay and my company pays to my pension scheme, replaced my broken 10 year old tv with shiney 3d flat screen and had my first trip abroad in four years. I wouldn't describe the recession and it's effects on the majority (spain, ireland, greece etc) as a good thing but for me I am nervously doing ok.0 -
An ex Geordie coalminer who moved to the promised lands in the South; and made good selling beach huts relabelled as DesRes ?
That's pretty close ...... although, you don't need intelligence to be an Estate Agent - just an ability to lie through ones teeth.
Yes, I live in an affluent area, in a large detached house, but I do get out and about ...... no need to visit 'rough' areas of course - but, wherever I look I see wealth, plenty of work and plenty of money.Bringing Happiness where there is Gloom!0 -
While i dont normally get sucked into look at me the big i am debates i still despair when a poster is so deluded that they honestly believe people aren't suffering beyond their front doors.
They seriously need to get a grip in their lives rather than tootling between work and somerfields and home0
