Tenth Anniversary 500 Posts I've been Money Tipped!
Hubbie came shopping with me today , he has an amex card so loaded and used Tesco, Primark and Pizza Express offers. I told him to check on his account in a week or so to see if credit applied for each one, they all successfully loaded so fingers crossed. Then we'll try Nandos next week
  • I've got a Blackberry 8520 and do not get "load to card" once I've checked in - just simply says that I've "unlocked the special by checking in". Have done this in a variety of places a few weeks ago and no credit has appeared on my Amex. Have mailed foursquare about the lack of "load to card" option, who just replied to say check my card is synced (it is) and no response from Amex so far. Is anyone else on Blackberry getting similar problems? I've downloaded the new version of the ap that was released yesterday and still no joy. Very frustrating!

Hi Clare and other BB users, What you are saying sounds very similar to the problem we had from Fri 15/06, which was resolved Mon 18/06 evening. I haven't loaded recently so can't confirm your problem on platforms other than BB. It appears Tweeter is quite good to get AmexUK and foursquare's attention.

This app is useless. I was stood outside Preston primark the other day trying to use it there - it claimed the nearest 'special' was at Pizza Express in Kendal. It isn't my phone because google maps was fine. Also if you haven't 3G signal its unusable.

I think some of the offers are perhaps not available at all stores - for example the Strada in my town doesn't show any offers on the foursquare app. Its annoying, but not sure if there is anything that can be done about it - perhaps they were allowed to opt out?

Finally got foursquare to work kind of.
Having switched on GPS and found a free wireless network, the 4sq android app burst into life and actually showed me my position and a couple of places near me (well 0.5km away). No orange blobs though. :(

However, when clicking on CHECK IN instead of Explore, a list of places very close to me was displayed including the Tesco I was standing outside of. :)

So I clicked on Tesco and checked in.
Got the message 'you have unlocked a special - spend £5 get £5 credit'.
Clicked on the 'special' and downloaded to the phone (took a few attempts to get this to work).
Went shopping, paid by Amex, a couple of days later there was £5 credit on the Amex card from Tesco. :)

    Bit of palava and yes:-
The specials don't appear as orange blobs on the map.
Lots of places don't appear on the map at all.
Places do show up on the 'check in' list but you don't know if there is a special until you have checked in.
It is pants without a 3G or wifi connection.

That is such a useful post - thanks a lot! I went to Tesco yesterday, armed with my amex & app loaded. Tesco didn't appear on the map at all, only a beefeaters nearby, so I just paid on my usual casdback creditcard instead. Will now try it out on my next trip instead!
I don't think I can hang on til Friday...

Did you have to register the supplementary card with foursquare as well?

Just tried creating new 4square account for the missus but syncing supplementary card gets error "card already synced" Can anyone confirm does it still work?

BTW card number is same but different name on card.

Just one per card per offer (eg 1x Tesco, 1x nandos etc).
