Internet connection keeps dropping - anyone else had this and solved it?

Thanks, yes I will do. What I can't understand is that TT insist the broadband fault is due to the noise on the line but, apart from on Saturday night, there has been no noise on the line for about three weeks. The trouble is trying to get them to understand you! In the past 24 hours the connection has been MUCH better - it's still dropping but I have been connected for over five hours now which is amazing!0

"Noise" on the line isn't always audible but can still affect broadband. It is helpful when it IS audible as that makes it easier to prove there is a fault.0

Take a look here for your router - http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/frogstats.php and provide "The details you are looking for are:"
Those stats can give information crucial to determining where a fault might lie.The "noise" they are mentioning might not be audible noise on the voice line but "noise" on the adsl line which will be reflected in noise margin.“I look like Spiderman at a funeral”~ Karl Pilkington0 -
Thanks. I am connected to the router all the time (to see how long I've been connected). I can see the SNR margin figures so I'll try and figure out what they mean by reading this. Spoke too soon about the connection being better as it's dropped about six times this morning.0

I really am at my wit's end now with Talk Talk. :mad:I found out (by logging into my account) that the engineer who is coming is "Bright Sparks". When I looked on their website I see these people come to set up your router!! I do NOT need my router set up - I've used the internet for years!
I have spoken to several customer service people and got nowhere. Just don't know where to turn.0 -
Can't remember if I posted this link earlier in the thread?

Cancel the complaint and re-report it, this time as a line fault-do not mention your broadband dropping. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

The trouble is that my phone line has been crystal clear for nine days (my husband says he has never heard any noise on the line). I'll have to try and call TT back again today.0 -
Yes, but if you want to get a proper OR engineer out, rather than a chargeable TT 'Bright Spark' (Half-Wit?) person, you'll have to persuade them otherwise. Once the OR engineer actually attends, you can explain that it's intermittent and possibly therefore weather-related. They see this all the time. Whereas the TT call centre drone won't even know what line noise is.
The ISP will always do all they can to avoid involving OR, because it's potentially chargeable to them.No free lunch, and no free laptop0
