Anyone tried Green Tea?

I don't usually like green tea, but I do like Genmaicha tea which is green tea that has been mixed with rice (there is no rice in the cup!). It smells like popcorn and is definitely a bit more of a beginner's green tea (if that makes sense).

I've tried Green Tea on numerous occasions and have always hated the taste
I did start taking the capsules for a while though, your post has reminded me to try them again! 0 -
I gave up sweeteners earlier this year and suddenly the Co-op 99 tea I loved tasted foul.
I've been experimenting and it seems to me that to go sugar & sweetener free it takes teas with delicate flavour to kinda ease into it.
Didn't much like Duchy Originals organic green tea (Waitrose) but did like Lord Nelson green tea with vanilla (Lidl) as well as Twinings Earl Grey (everywhere basically) and Liptons Morocco (ASDA)0 -
what, then, is white tea? is it actually green tea?Firstly, to clear up any confusion all tea leaves come from the same plant/bush/tree (Camellia sinensis) it is just a question of processing. Green tea is not subject to the oxidisation that black tea is exposed to therefore it is lighter, fresher and retains more of the benefits.0 -
I think it tastes like pond water
mind you, I drink earl grey, which is apparently and acquired taste

So, apart from the milder flavour, I drink white tea as opposed to green tea, because white tea's health benefits seem to be even greater than those of green tea, due to younger leaves when picked, no fermentation, and therefore greater nutrient profile!

I always assumed that white tea was tea with a powdered milk in it,
and as I don't take milk in any type of tea I never tried it. Will have to get some now! 0 -
MMm another one for green tea with jasmine - i drink the whittards one and buy it in huge bags of loose tea. Ive converted my husband and my dad and sister and her husband onto it now! And my uncle too I think, lol
Its very light tasting compared to other green teas Ive tried and like someone else said, very moreish, I drink huge mugs of it.
Not sure about metabolism boosting, as Ive been steadily gaining recently but I have been drinking it for years
That said I couldnt drink all brands of green tea, eso supermarket green tea that comes in bags YEEUCH, so I guess its a case of try different brands til you find the right one, as it IS supposed to be a lot healthier than normal tea.
Also, white tea is an even better alternative, Im trying to incorporate more of that, but still love my green tea! Again whittards do nice flavoured ones, inc a white choc one!We got rid of the kids. The cat was allergic.

I have found the best way for me to drink it is to add a couple of Sweetex sweeteners, let it cool and put it in a litre bottle in the fridge.
It goes down a lot better when it is cold and sweet.

I am a long time green tea drinker and it's a question of trying a few brands to find the one you like. I quite like Twinings, but not the flavoured ones.
The other key thing is that you only need the tea bag in the cup for a brief time. It's not like ordinary tea where you get a better flavour by letting it brew. If you leave the green tea teabag in for ages, or worse, squeeze it out, you will get a bitter, yukky drink.
If you have a Home Bargains near you they often do cheap green tea.0
