Its vile. I think its Twinings who do a green tea that is flavoured with apple, cranberry and orange (i think). It tastes better flavoured with something else but i'm still not keen.

This is definitely still sold in Tescos and Sainsburys for £1,50 a box! I buy a box approximately every two weeks from one of them.

My nearest Sainsbury's doesn't have them. I've also tried Tesco, Asda, Morrisons and the Co-op. :( I'm sure it was Tesco where I used to get it from. I'll have to put a suggestion on the board asking if they're getting it back.

Peppermint tea is very good if you have a pain in your stomach. I recommended it to my Mum who used to get pain due to having diverticulitis and she couldn't believe how much it helped her. Also good for trapped wind.

Thank you all so much for your opinions. I tried one from Starbucks yesterday and it was 'drinkable' and not as horrid tasting as I expected. Thanks to all who have suggested brands, the Tetleys variety pack looks interesting. Has anyone experienced well being since starting to drink this? Has anyone felt more energetic or had any weight loss as these are meant to be some of the benefits of drinking green tea
  • I drink Green Tea and White Tea - I don't mean normal tea with milk.

Clippers sell white tea which tastes like tea with milk ironically - it is supposed to have more of the good stuff in it than green tea.

It is about £1.25 for 25 bags.

I love green tea. I cut up some fresh ginger and put that in with honey and its delicious. An acquired taste though I'm sure
  • Firstly, to clear up any confusion all tea leaves come from the same plant/bush/tree (Camellia sinensis) it is just a question of processing. Green tea is not subject to the oxidisation that black tea is exposed to therefore it is lighter, fresher and retains more of the benefits.

If you consider green tea to taste bland or yuck then try choosing a quality product (you get what you pay for). It is also an acquired taste if you have been used to drinking black tea especially if you usually add milk and/or sugar. It also needs to be brewed properly - there's great advice on TeaCargo's website under 'About Tea' - they also have a good Health & Tea section.

My Chinese friends say they drink green tea for energy, oolong tea when the waistband feels tight and puerh tea after eating fatty foods or drinking alcohol. It is a regime that I have followed for the last couple of years and I feel healthier and happier (and a bit trimmer too).

    Jo :)
  • And I should add - don’t brew longer to get stronger, it will just get bitter. If you want stronger tea, add more tea.

I quite like green tea, I have it with milk and one sugar though. If you don't want full blown green tea, Tetley do a 'Blend of Both' which is pretty tasty.

Yes, another green tea fan here - with jasmine is my favourite -, black tea doesn't doesn't do it for me anymore (used to have it black anyway). If you want to try different flavours without buying a whole packet, log onto the Twinings website and they will send you a couple of samples FOC.

White tea is also nice if you want something lighter, clean and refreshing.
