    Hi

Craigyvw and the other person who posted their budget - I'm really sorry but I can't remember who it was - could you post your target again as I've gone and lost the bit of paper that I had written it down on - huge sorries, Helen x

I posted my budget of £130 for the month this morning, so it may have been me.

Just caught up with all the posts, I usually read the thread everyday, but have been spending time with nice new man (too soon to say DH) so was really behind with my reading.

Went with eldest DD, her soon-to-be MIL and 2 gonna-be bridesmaids to put the deposit on her wedding dress, veil and tiara......had a lovely girlie morning :j

Spent £15 treated everyone to tea and cakies but that was my pleasure, on a happy morning :D

    Signature updated.

Been baking since I got home, made raisin muffins, cranberry muffins, JJ's herby cheese bread and Devon scones.

The scones were the lightest, fluffiest I have ever made......didnt cut them into rounds, just patted them into a circle and cut them into 8 (like when I do JJ's bread) so maybe the fact they were not handled much made them especially light???

So delish that I ate 2 :o and feel quite sick now  eyes def bigger than belly :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:[/QUOTE
Fozzie - I'm glad you've had some special days out :)
I was always taught that you don't roll out scones, you just bring the mixture together and pat it on the bench, then cut into shapes, i.e. handle as little as possible.

Introduced OH to the doughnut peaches I got, they are really yummy and sweet, no chance of them going off cos they will all be eaten.

Found a pack of sage and onion stuffing in our cupboard and have a couple of sausages left over from making sausage rolls on Thursday, can I freeze sausagemeat stuffing? As there will be too much for us to eat in one sitting. x
As long as the sausagemeat wasn't frozen before, it will be fine to freeze.

Tried really hard to have another NSD, but the lure of the reduced price eggs was too much, so £1 to add to sig :)
Has anyone tried to freeze eggs? Can you beat the eggs, in say 2 egg quantities to use in cakes?

    Good morning folks :)

Hope all are fine and dandy!

Today will be something to use up my nasturtiums as I have a bumper crop. Will probably have potato n nasturtium soup ;)
Will have a quick google for more recipes. I also need to use up a tub of soft cream so might whip up a quiche and use the soft cream in the filling.

    Yesterday was very pleasant. :)

I went to the Garden Lovers Gathering which was really nice. My cheesy herb bread recipe came in handy. I made one batch up but divided the circles into 2 before dividing them so I ended up with 12 wedges.
I buttered them and put deli ham and nasturtium leaves in them then halved them so I ended up with 2 dozen bite size portions:photo-152.jpg?t=1341668594

They went down well. The host had made a lovely carrot cake and courgette cake too amongst other things!!! Yummy :)

Went for a curry with friends in the evening and bought home a doggy bag :o
Waste not, want not, as my mother would say!

I have to do some tidying in the garden today so am hoping for a dry spell amongst the rain. I have to plant my climbing rose and a few other pieces that I brought back from the afternoon gathering yesterday. :j

Have a fab n frugaltastic day peeps :)

Oh dear, I really should not be let out of the house with a purse (especially in the company of DH). :(

DH suggested we went to a farm shop to look at the meat so we headed out to one recommended by my boss. It was lovely and we came away with 2 minted lamb steaks, 2 greek sausage and bacon wrap things for DH (not GF so I couldn't have them) 4 big chicken breasts, 2 big slices of the most delicious ham, 4 apricots, 2 leeks and a pack of organic butter that was the same price I paid last week for value. I also bought a note pad that sticks to the fridge. I got one for my birthday last year and it ran out a few months back and I have really missed it.

I can't remember when I last ate meat, probably over 25 years so I hope I like it. I did fancy it before we bought it.
We then went to Mr S,for the 2nd visit that day:eek:, to get DH four cans and also picked up a big car of n3scafe on offer as DH won't drink anything else and I had one on the list for next week, some sweets, lamb gravy, value water and some coal tar sap for DH exzema. The smell always reminds me of my late Nana's house.

I am over budget now but have meal planned to the end of my month and only need milk, bread, F&V and lunch stuff next week. I just need to stop myself buying anything else.

I have spent less than last month but there is still a long way to go to bring my spending down to a level I am happy with:(

Didn't get any baking done yesterday so I am planning to make cheese scones, GF choc sponge and some apple and rhubarb GF crumbles while DH watches the tennis final.

Today will be a NSD as I dont plan on leaving the house :rotfl:

I have a YS ready meal for lunch that has been lurking in the freezer for ages......so I can just pop it in the oven and not miss any of the F1!! :D

And for tea, I have LO strawberries, HM scones and LO clotted cream......possibly while watching a bit of Wimbledon ;)

Have a happy day everyone! :T

    Morning all,

Another £4.05 to added to signature OH went out for cocunut for a recipe and also came back with 3 tins of tomatos (3 for £1) and YS duck in hoisin sauce with pancakes reduced from £4 to £2.05- he said there was loads YS but most things only had abit knocked off

Is my OH actually coming round to the GC way of thinking- I think so :T

Have meal planned next week and the week after based on what we have in so will have minimum spends until the end of the monthly (hopefully!!!)

Jumblejack - that bread looks gorgeous
xspender - looks like you've spent way less than last month, so your already winning

Shock horror, have just added up all my receipts and it comes to £76.56, which only leaves me £23.44 for the month - well im determined to do it as we need nothing apart from F&V, but not looking forward to it.

My little batch baking session is over. I've made a herby quiche which used up a 10p tub of lactofree soft cheese, part of a 19p bag of grated cheese and the last of the deli ham from yesterday's garden lovers gathering offering (and of course, herbs from the garden:T)

I also made up one batch of herby cheese bread but made 2 mini rounds instead of one large one so I have ended up with 12 smaller wedges. I used up the last of the grated cheese bag that was YS,

With the quiche pastry trimmings, I made 11 jam tarts. I can't wait til I can say I used my own jam......
    One day soon, hopefully :)

If I get time, I'm gonna try make up a summer soup of nasturtiums and lettuce. We will see.....

    :)
    Have a fab day, peeps:j
