Well I am back from my weekend away! Spent tons of cash :o but not any from my GC budget because I don't count eating out.

Had a terrible day because I am RIDICULOUSLY hungover and had a very long bus journey :( yes, I know, self-inflicted, but still rubbish! Not been able to eat a thing all day, maybe it'll continue and I can save grocery money :rotfl:

Took tomorrow off work as well and got the Mr A delivery in the afternoon so that will be a slightly larger spend than normal as I barely got anything last week. By the way, I've been wondering why we all say 'Mr A' etc or put asterisks in instead of spelling it out? Is there any reason? Just curious!

Hi , I hope it's not to late to join in? I am afraid many of my OS ways have slipped in the last six months due to separating (1half way through divorce), selling marital home, finding somewhere to rent, settling kids ( who by the way are twin girls and were 18 last week, so not exactly babies, but my babies anyway). I am now looking for a home to buy so money saving has become more important than ever.

I currently have no idea what I spend, but I guess it's around£500 per month , which is way to much. Anyway I plan to try for £200 For the last three weeks and try and figure what I am currently spending ready for a fresh start in August

PS anyone know how to change my name to miss or ms motivated :D

Just popping in to report some spends. £50-something in A!di on Friday and then £70 in c0stc0 stocking up on meat for the month. £16 of that was a case of beer for a friend who's been helping out with the house renovation so I might put that into the renovation budget if things get tight at the end of the month! Budget currently stands at £140-something / £200 with 2/3 of the month still to go. Should only need f&v and milk and breadflour though, so hopefully still going to be achievable. First time I've done a costco stock up so its a bit scary!

I would like to do spreadsheets for my GC budgets but have no experience of Excel. Is there anywhere I can go for a quick and easy guide? If I get competent maybe I can start doing all my budgets on there?

Keeping an eye on the little spends are a real eye opener. It's mad when at work, for example, I see people going out for lunch and call my tinned spag and jacket pot extreme poverty(!), I wonder where they get all the cash from.

If they have a money tree, maybe JJ can help me forage for one?!

I am pleased with my efforts so far, and am enjoying myself. My OH has taken up golf, so I could do with making the pounds stretch!

It's not that we are struggling like a lot of people out there who I really feel for, it's just that we need to keep an eye to stay on track and be able to afford things like golf!!

SusanP - They probably don't have the money and are racking up their credit cards ;) At least you are taking control of your spending, and they'll have to get their heads out of the sand sometime :) Or maybe they get paid more?????? Ask them how they can afford it!
I agree with you about being able to afford the little extras, by being careful with the shopping though. Well done you! :T

    NSD today.

Just popping on to say hello.
Had yesterday an today as NSD's which is good, although I have felt thoroughly in the dumps with nowhere to go (due to money), felt sorry for myself.

Dh asked again what I wanted for my birthday (31st) I said the only thing I would like is a bracelet with the birthstones of the children on, but that I can't warrant spending over £100 on it when I can use the money on the children or towards the car he needs. Feel really sad about it as I should have bought a bracelet from some inheritance I got last year so it could be in memory of my nan and passed down to my children, but I used all the money to get our house finished :( feel really gutted about it, an now we can't afford it and if we did I would feel guilty as I'm working so hard to save what I can, and it would feel like its been spent on that and not what we need. I would so love something for myself without feeling the guilt

Anyhow moan over. Looks like I am just under budget of £40 again this week as I have stuck again to my meal plans and have everything sorted til wed. Tomorrow will be another NSD as I have nowhere to go :( if the weathers ok and dh (off shift) has the baby I might have a potter an tidy the garden - might cheer me up a bit.

Hope everyone else has had a good weekend x
