  • I would agree with most (although quite harsh)
Bathroom pic; put bleach away, fold towel over rail, maybe vase with some flowers?
Living room; de-clutter definately needed just box it all up. Think minimalist as this sells and lets people imagine the space as their own.

Have you looked into the interiors of other houses on the market locally? as this is your competition when it comes to selling your property.

Re towels in the bathroom - and kitchen for that matter. I stuff the ones I'm using in a cupboard and whip out nice pristine new ones "just for show" :)

For me it has to be the bushes, sets the tone when walking into the house and the cluttered feel continues.

Please get rid of the table and vase on the landing as fire hazard and people will have to walk round this to view the bedrooms.

Turn the second bedroom back in to a bedroom. If people don't see a bed in it, then they might think that it's not big enough for one.

I also think it is important to have a bed in the second bedroom, even if you have to borrow one

Even looking at the pics myself, the clutter leaps out and I've already done loads of trips to Age UK

Yes but you have to donate stuff to them, not buy more stuff from them :-)

For a 2 bedroom house you have to display the lounge so that 3 people can sit and watch the telly. That means moving the furniture (and possibly the telly)

But it could be a lot worse.

It could look like my place.

On second look I have to be brutally honest - it looks like a lesson on page one of the "How to not market your house properly" handbook.

But follow all the constructive advice in here and a day's work could well add 5000 to the value, or certainly be the difference between selling and not.

Be ruthless. If you can move it into the garage do so. Ideally your living room will have just a sofa/suite, TV and maybe coffee table. Kitchen will have NO plates, pots, washing or cooking implements on display - maybe a kettle and other large items like toasters (no crumbs of course)

    Oh - good luck!
  • Yes, not much to add, trim the ceanothus and make the approach tidy. When I had my last house for sale, I was amazed by the number of 'drive by' viewings so get that kerb appeal right.

Just a thought, when you fill your boxes, write on them with a marker pen what is in them, or at least which room they are for. It will help you when you are ready to unpack.

Put everything you can live without into boxes and store. Then you can put some nice items on show, have a couple of colours in your accessories to lift the neutral decor. Also, make sure you open windows regularly and have something that smells nice maybe in the hall, as long as it is not overpowering as that might imply you have something nasty to cover.

    Best of luck with it.

It looks as if you have 2 desks in the sitting room and one in the bedroom, you only need one, put the others in storage if you really do need to keep them.
