  • Hi guys

The mortgage shouldnt be a problem we're with Birmingham Midshires on a self cert theyre pretty cool for a mortgage company and the paperwork states if I let them know it shouldnt be a problem.

Apparently Etihad airline is moving fast getting people out there. My only major worry is how much I will miss OH we dont get concessionary travel for 6 months so I might not see him a lot in that time Flights are roughly £350 mark so might only see him once or twice in that time. But after than heck he can come out every month until he is ready to move unless I hate it and want to come back to Blighty!

I've started the DOACC "The dreaming of another country club" Think its nice to speak to others in the same position the anxiety nervousness and general excitement can be abit overwhelming and I havent even got the job yet!

If I ramble on this sorry I've not told my friends and family yet we want a job secure before we break the news lol

    Hi All,

If some of you remember a few months ago I wanted to move abroad and got some fab advice from a lot of you, But at the time I decided I was running away from my problems the debt, The old horrid joband to be honest a pretty miserable existince.

So from there I got a new job (more money)
Re-mortgaged paid off unsecured debt I still have debt in the mortgage.
And generally a lot happier wee woman.

So the story goes on Myself and DH have decided we ARE going to move abroad for a year at least we're in our 20's and its a case of now or never, Planning on going next year so we're going to start saving like mad!

We're off to Dubai the fine details like when etc we will go are still on the drawing board!

But we are going to do it.

Now This is where I need advice. How much should we take as savings?
Should we rent out our flat for the year?

Anyone who has done this or just anyone who has advice please feel free to jot them down here.

Hopefully this will be a wee diary of what we are doing etc.

Rich, dead envious. Dubai, I lurve that place and am hoping to get back there one day with the Navy. You have to rent the flat surely. You cannot afford to take the chance with getting off the housing ladder. Cor I want to go to Doobers now! Good luck to you and you never know what may come along. What do you do BTW? I am sure they would snap your hands off if you have skill.

and so it starts, emptied my copper tin today £65 :D in it!

Looking into what jobs to do In Dubai no shortage with my skills thank god so now its on

I have £135 in quidco going straight to saving acocunt.
£65 transferred to my terrimundi we're putting notes in that too so I reckon at least £200,

I still have money left from re-mortgage but the kitchen and new boiler are going in anything left from that will go to savings

Any ideas where I can make more money I cant take on a 2nd job sadly I would love too but I'm in management and this would be frowned upon.

I seen pictures of oman today I'm in love, a friend of mine spent a year in Dubai and is dying to go back got loads of great advice from her....

    ooohh I'm still so excited!

Oman, been there too. A beautiful place with some wonderful mountain freshwater lakes that you can swim in. No where near as cosmopolitan as Dubai, but very nice nonetheless. Have a good rake through the expat sites and ask tons of questions.
