Indeed, its not like Martin or the Forum team are bothered about people who insult millions of people, or stalk others, history has shown that they let it go on.

If they acted, I would not need to point out the obvious, as such users would be long gone, history, and they could take their mass insults to other forums.

The impact of this is to stigmatise people on benefits,
and we should be deeply worried about that

87 million pounds is an obscene amount of money.
Good luck to him, he's established a rich family dynasty.
It's also good that he's giving some money to charity.

But he really is a narcissistic and foolish person if he doesn't understand how people will look at him differently. I never want to see him on the television again or indeed preaching any kind of financial education to children or young people. If he wants to help young people or debtors, he'd be better setting up a trust and letting it take care of itself.

Just imagine it - 'Here, let me, a very rich person, tell you, how you can save money by clicking my comparison links and make moneysupermarket.com richer and increasing the value of my shares in it. I can even explain to you how you too can make loadsa money off poor people and others who want to save money by being the 'consumer champion'. I can tell you how to become a multimillionaire. Even better, look what a good person I am, campaigning for you to understand the financial things my site can tell you, just click on the links. Thank you.'

There's a huge difference between - how the site is funded, click on a link to help - as a tag line and - 'you've been making me millions and millions all these years, sucker'

I couldn't find it either. The All About Forums look identical to MSE, they might have an energy section?

I have now unsubscribed from MoneySavingExpert.
MoneySavingExpert suggests in its tips that it will not pass on my email address to anyone else.
Well, it has done just that by selling out to MoneySupermarket.
I have no desire to be inundated with further Moneysupermarket emails. I get too much unsolicited spam as it is.
    So, goodbye Martin Lewis.
Your site was great but I detest MoneySupermarket.
My email address may not, under any circimstances, be passed to MoneySupermarket without my express permission, which I have not given.:(

Well you're going to be missed, after 18 posts in over two years. I can see what a huge part of your life MSE was! :rotfl:
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D

It's amusing reading all the what? How could he? threads... anyone who says they wouldn't have done the same is lying.

    I disagree.

    Some
people are genuine philanthropists, and are not motivated by making money. Many successful business people remain in business because they simply enjoy their work - any excessive money made is a by-product.

I joined MSE in 2006, searching the forums for some help. I was under no illusions, that anyone with Martin's financial insight, understanding and research, (particularly financial journalists), would be making a very comfortable living, with excellent provision for the future. So, he would already have all his personal financial bases well covered.

I admired his philanthropy in freely passing on some of his expertise and advice to help us lesser mortals, who do not have his skills and contacts. So, when I heard the announcement about MSE's sale, I, and my friends who regularly use and contribute to the site and forums, felt betrayed by greed.

No, if I had Martin's talents and skills for acquiring and using financial information, and making a comfortable life, I would not have sold my baby.

I would have ensured its survival as an independent entity, by employing others, who share my philosophy, to do the work that I had been doing. Gradually, over time, I would have taken a back seat, so that I could enjoy the lifestyle I had already secured.

And no, I am not jealous. I learned, many years ago, that increasing wealth is subject to the Law of Diminishing Returns.

Perhaps Martin will surprise us? Perhaps he will invest his £77 million in a different philanthropic enterprise?

Energy Saving Expert is a pretty crap name.. Change it.

    What about moneysavingexpert87m.co.uk lol

May I suggest you have a go at registering a domain, buying some hosting and setting a site up yourself then?

If your site takes off I can pretty much guarantee you'll have to put more money into upgrading the hosting and may eventually outgrow a shared hosting account.

    Why should he?

Do you put the vast majority of your money into charitable trusts?

    What an absolutely stupid statement!

it seems that the only members of the community with a real problem are the ones with really low post counts that hardly ever use the site.
