Sold as seen car - vehicle tax

Was it advertised with the tax? If not, they could argue the car was indeed sold as seen, but not including anything left in it by mistake. Or would you keep the childseats if they left them in by accident, or the cd in the cd player? If you have no receipt saying sold as seen, it's down to the advert, and whatever it said there regarding the tax.

I get your point about mistakes - but they have already told us they went through the car and found £12, so yet another reason to think it was part of the sale as it was till there when we picked the car up...never mind.
  • Thank you to those that responded :)
  • you dont collect the v5c, you should have had the green slip on purchase and signed the v5c for the current keeper to send away.

ironically if you dont have the v5c greenslip you cant tax at a local office and would have to go down to the DVLA local office and fill in some forms and get it that way.

Despite mikey muddying the waters, this one is very simple, if the tax was on the car at the time the deal was done, and at no point were you told it wasn't part of the sale, then it was part of the sale.

It's very cheeky of them to try and be the ones to cash it in... they need a little lesson so that they can realise that their sneaky attempt at gaining a little extra money isn't on.

A phone call to the DVLA maybe in order saying the keeper is trying to claim a refund for a car you have purchased.

    Will it stop them refunding?

How simple is it? No advert, no receipt. Prove it. Waynedance has the more sensible suggestion.

Yep, what price hassle and a possible stab in the back from a work colleaque???

This is an issue where people actually have to talk to each other and if there was genuine confusion on both sides 50/50 has to be a reasonable resolution?:T
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

IMO it should be included but the above does sound a sensible solution to remain friends
