Hi there,
I have just made Baba Ganoush aubergine dip for the first time and am very pleased with the results which made me wonder- does anyone have a good, reliable Middle Eastern cookbook that they would recommend? Or even a really good website to be more money-saving?
I'm really trying to cut down on the number of cookbooks I buy but I don't have any recipe books that cover this region...0 -
Hi,
This site is really good http://www.dedemed.com/#axzz0ne8uNY46 (and she has loads of videos on you tube).
I am of Middle Eastern origin and there is one book I have that has recipes that work (ie turn out the way my mum and grandmother cooked them). Give me a minute and I'll hunt out a link.

I'm back.
It's called 'The Complete Middle Eastern Cookbook' by Tess Mallos0 -
If in doubt: hit your local library. Much cheaper than buying recipe books. A chum of mine swears by the recipezaar website0

Ask in your library if they have anything by Claudia Roden - she's written some really good books on middle eastern food. My favourite middle eastern recipes are hummus, tabbouleh salad, felafel and kofte kebabs - all really easy to do at home!2015 comp wins - £370.25
Recent wins: gym class, baby stuff
Thanks to everyone who posts freebies and comps! :j0 -
I made this the other day and it was lovely, if not particularly authentic:

Hi attentionseeker
As you have had a few suggestions, and this has dropped off the front page, I've added this to the main recipe book recommendation thread, to help others in future
thanks:D

As Im quite a novice cook. My one favourite recipe books I cannot live without is
"All about food" by Helen Mcgrath
Its acutally my GCSE home economics book from 1997. It has about 200 recipes that are so basic and easy for me to do. Like how to bake a simple victoria sponge, apple pie, lasagne, even how to make a jacket potato lol.But it doesnt over complicate things. My personal favourite.
I made a cheese sauce from it yesterday. I had no idea how to make one, just use to buy it in a jar, god now I feel stupid, how easy to make!!
So which recipes books could you not live without?
Please feel free to merge if this has already been asked thank youHappy days
