I guess I didn't word it right - it cost almost £35k to distribute £51.5k to charitable causes? Is that basically what the accounts are saying?0 -

I personally will complain to the BBC if they continue to have him on Radio 2 and Fivelive. To me this is now a company and not a personal site. BBC can not favour a company over another.
I expect his present on the BBC will be gone now, or limited.
I suspect the site has been on Moneysupermarket's acquisition list for a while but only now have they come up with an agreeable figure.
I did read elsewhere his staff are sharing in the money, I do say good luck to them for that.
It was unlikely he would have sold it to anyone offering a lower figure (if anyone did) as he would have had to be mad to.
I'm with you about the BBC appearances, I don't think he should be paid anymore of the licence fee, then again there are lots of personalities that are paid millions by the Beeb which can go on all thanks to the TV tax aka the licence fee which should be scrapped.
My question is really though would people have felt less aggreived if he'd announced he'd made x million from a flotation?Interests: PCs. servers, networks, mobiles and music (esp. trance)0 -

yes, looks that way
but there is more info about the charityTwo thirds of the money goes to support The MSE Charity which provides grants to individuals and groups to provide education and information about consumer and debt issues; and the rest to five general charities nominated by site users.

I truly hope they did not pay someone to do that website, even I could create that! On a more serious note, it would be interesting to know how the other third of the money was spent, but I doubt we will get an answer.0 -
Why would this surprise anyone?
The guy is an astute busunessman and media personality who has made his name as being a 'money saving expert'
He therefore founds a charity to do a bit of good but also realise various 'tax efficencies' thus saving some money.Interests: PCs. servers, networks, mobiles and music (esp. trance)0 -
Sell out!
Martin runs for the sun counting his dirty cash.
It was always the same, switch energy suppliers everyone. Switch following this little link....
Martin was coining it in when you could have switched through one of the cashback websites instead of Martin trousering your cash.
This sites visitors are going to plummet.....0 -
Maybe I don't know
The fairest way might have been to float the company instead although there was always a risk that moneysupermarket could have swooped for the shares.Interests: PCs. servers, networks, mobiles and music (esp. trance)0 -

Given his seemingly oblivious "Tweets", I would wholly agree with you.0
