I am seeing why it was never made public how much each company paid for a link and why Martin went to lengths to conceal how much MSE was earning, instead almost pleading poverty sometimes,
Yup, he's laughing at us all now following his click through links.
We should have had the cashback rather than lining Martin's pockets.

    Consumers champion my a£$£.

    Martin's champion more like.
Still what does he care now? I won't be paying any attention to anything he says from now on...

Does anyone else find it quite refreshing that the mods aren't all over this thread! Maybe the new mse (without ml) will be better. Less like school, more grownup!!!!

We'll help MoneySavingExpert.com reach a wider audience and MoneySavingExpert.com will broaden the range of advice and tools we offer, encouraging even more people to take action, tap into the benefits of the internet to find a better deal and make the most of their money," he said.

that is complete BS, Martin does that himself being on the BBC and ITV all the time.

They are, My comment about imutual was deleted as it refenced the deal between ML and a guy called Richard. rpoints.com went bust and lost members loads of money. *expect this to be deleted"

The other reason could be there all with martin counting the 87million cash

I think the point I am most upset about is that this community has collectively added its ideas, thoughts and exertise - now for Martin to profit. I first joined in 2003 (a system upgrade managed to wipe my old identity) and find this a very sad day. I guess money won out in the end, not good old fashioned values like loyalty and community and pride in a job well done. A bit like selling your country park for a Tesco development.

That's worth knowing...This site is so heavily moderated it that it really is a complete work of fiction lol

I joined in 2004 with one of my old names.

I knew it was a bit of taking idea off the posters, when a MSE employee asked about a particular subject in a new thread, then my ideas went into a book by Martin. My words exactly.
Was I ever thanked for my thoughts, no, not once by anyone from MSE on the thread or off it.

I knew then he was milking the forum, but I didn't think he'd sell it to someone like MS....

I'm still in two minds about it. I can't blame him, we all would be happy to get the sort of money he was offered, but he said once that he would never sell MSE out as it went against his ethics. Or something very similar. He never said he wouldn't sell it, just not go against his ethics.

The three years is a time where he wants everything to stay the same, otherwise his money won't be there at the end, so I don't think it will change that much.

I knew my posts and help were in a small way profiting Martin (but I didn't realise how much!), but now they will profit MS and Martins shares and 3 year bonus.

I really do love MSE, it's got the sort of wide community that takes a long time to build up and I've met some great people through here. But it's just taken a big leap into just being about money and it leaves a bit of a bad taste in my mouth.

    <sigh>
Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.
