Would you stick to your principles and continue running an unbiased site or pocket £ 87 million ?

If it was making 15 million a year I would keep it. In 6 years I would have over 87 million and still have a site that is making me 15 million, or more, per year.

Short sighted greed if you ask me.

I know it's not quite that simple, but a regular income is better than a lump sum when both figures are more than you can spend anyway.

Yeah but then you would be six years older :D

I've made over 550 postings on various forums on this site, and for every single one of them Martin came to my house and held a loaded gun to my head.

I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.

He has also helped more people than you can count. Who was there before Martin who would give advice like this? No one.
so he can make large amounts of money out of them !!!!!! not out of the goodness of his heart...As it turns out. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me.

Can I just ask has anyone spent more than a few minutes on another part of the site other than the forum. I can honestly say I have never looked at any pages on the main site over the last few years and have always clicked straight through to this section.

It's almost quite funny, tens of thousands of pages of content have been created by the readers worrying about paying bills etc. He then sorts out a really cunning scheme where he links to various deals and gets a nice healthy commission when people opened an account or whatever.

I remember there used to be a NO ADS logo on the site and the photo on the Mail website had a pic of him in his office with the same words behind him. I always thought it was a bit like read the small print, as clearly this site was making big money from online advertisers just not in an upfront way with proper ads just very subtle with links all over the place which then record who orders so he gets his slice. I wouldnt have cared less if there was ads as after all why are people so high and mighty about ads appearing when they are using a website for free and getting useful info from it. It just used to bug me how he presented it as being oh so perfect and whiter than white.

Making tens of a millions as a result of peoples debt worries and financial difficulties. I reckon he'll be worrying about you all as he sips his Pina Coladas at a 5 star beach resort. Haha

Well Martin Lewis you played a blinda :T:rotfl:

Well I expect all those appalled at the sale are now happy to pay back any money saved by advice/information willingly taken from this FREE site. and if they haven't saved any money WHAT WERE THEY DOING HERE all this time?

But he helped them, for free.

No one else did it and he didn't make a profit the first few years I believe. He did what no one else did, help the people that really needed it and a good few others too.
So he made a few quid out of it, he's been too successful for people to like it, that's all it really is. I suspect it's grown bigger than he ever thought it may do.

If he'd made £500k would he be receiving the vitriol he's got here today? I think not.

I think some of it is jealousy, am I jealous, hell yes, but I also couldn't have done what he has.

But I don't like it and I think he will rue the day. He could just have taken a slight backward step and continued to get the revenues from the site. Instead he's annoyed alot of people.
Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.

Why doesn't someone just start a forum on a new website, called something like Money Saver's Haven.com? We can all move our discussions over there?

I mean how much does ML really contribute to this site. It's us, you, the people, that make this site. We don't need him, nor his corporate greed.

Walk away from ML and start afresh in a new place.

If we want to show how we feel, let's move to a new site and take away any more money he can make by withdrawing our support from this site.

I have to say that I am astounded by the news that this site was worth 87 million pounds - I would have valued it at a few hundred thousand! Rarely use it as I never believed it was impartial with most posters having a vested interest in something or other. And a lot of advice could have landed you in hot water. Doubt if I'll be back here.

    Bye.
