This site earns huge amounts of money from all those links with a star next to them. Remember that this site is one huge financial product recommendation exercise, and that industry pays affiliates handsomely...poppy100

I dont blame Martin for one minute for selling, well done to him.
However, the moment any advertisement creeps into the weekly email, i will unsubscribe, and the moment any advertisement creeps into the forums, i will also stop using them as well.
While it all stays as it is (for the next 3 years i believe) im happy to continue using the site, i dont care who makes the money (Martin or big company) as i have been quite oblivious to any money they have been making out of my clicking links, or however its been happening. But, the moment i know that they are making money, i will no longer be here (it is a money SAVING site, after all!)0 -
No matter what you think of the sale blah blah blah the thing that has really shocked me today is that there is no way to delete your account/posts? I would love to know the justification for this. I mean, facebook is the spawn of the corporate devil and you can actually delete your account there. Bit weird, no?0

Well Done Martin, and that is a serious congratulations.
I came across Martin Lewis many years ago on Radio 2 when he was commenting on the proposed deregulation of Directory Enquiries and thought he talked a lot of sense.
He still talks sense today and should be congratulated on selling his business for so much money and the proposed donation to charity of £10 million of that, who needs £87 million after all.
Thanks to Martin I have saved money and he has made money by helping us to save money. He has never promoted a company because they have paid him to do so or because he is getting a benefit from it but because it will save us money, so thank you Martin.
I also think that we should trust Martin and his integrity that he will not have sold out the site but has put safeguards in place to ensure the site remains unbiased and saves us all money.
So for me it's off to the pub to raise a glass to you Martin.
Cheers
Peter

Trying hard to save money and trying to help friends do the same by finding the real "Moneysaving" bargains and avoiding companies that take my custom for granted.0 -
Very few businesses have a monopoly, for those that feel Martin is selling us all down the street, if the new owners make changes that any of others find hard to swallow, i'm sure a quick search on Google will find us a new home.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

Theyll be making money the moment the deal is done, anyone who thinks otherwise is deluded.Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -

Please remember a comparison site is not necessarily the cheapest option always get quotes from various sources, it was the reason direct line pulled out.0

Yes, i know that, but Martin has already been earning from us all, and im sure, if i looked properly i would find exactly where. However, ive not noticed or minded in the past, so while things stay the same, im still not going to mind.
My problem will be that while Martin is one guy (although he does have staff being paid etc) MoneySupermarket are a much bigger company alltogether, and i am sure they have not bought MSE purely to make what Martin has been making, like most companies they will want more and more, and will gradually find ways to earn extra - this is what i will object to.
That, and if i see any self promotion start being allowed on the forums0
