MS are no longer a 3rd party, they will own the site which means they own your data.

They are a third party buying MSE and its assets (which should not include our email addresses which we were assured would not be sold).

Are the regular and extremely helpful forum users getting a dividend then? That's where most of the value lies in this site. You're all being sold to line Martin's pockets otherwise.

How about setting up an alternative forum everyone can migrate to? All you need is a sound strategy that explains the value over and above MSE, a couple of servers, a webmaster, a few mods, a bit of marketing to make people aware of your site, and a bit of money cover the expenses of all the folks needed to keep things ticking over.

Who knows, if you get it right, you might be a multi-millionaire in 10 or so years time!

Congratulations to Martin on being such an astute and successful business man!

Congrats to Martin and the team. Now may i suggest Martin for PM? As a nation we could do a lot worse. he understands the issues, full of common sense and hard working-all fantastic qualities for a leader. This site has saved me loads and though change can be scary,i'm sure as a group we all can help maintain the integrity of the site and calling out thing that are unpleasant.
Lets all start a new campaign together:
Martin Lewis - Prime Minister In Waiting!!!:j

And if he doesn't get enough votes, he can form a coalition with a party few wanted or voted for, like Money Supermarket.

Congrats to Martin and for him I say fair play and all the best I would of done the same and I would think most if not all people. Martin as now set himself up for life and at £85 mil wow. Good luck. To our new almightly overlords you have overpaid and the site will only go one way now and aint up.
  • Basically it is one less site to trust.
I am sure another site will pop up and take up the mantle.

In future i will have to treat his emails more sceptically.

    :(

I trust Martin to do what is right for the whole community and therefore if he felt it was right to sell, then it was right to sell.

A sell out, no! A shrewd businessman with a tremendous passion for the consumer.

Also generous with it. A 10 million pound donation of which £1m goes to Citizens Advice.

I have gained SO much from this site not only financially but emotionally too so to all those who have posted in such a negative way, stop and think what MSE has done to you
