Good for you MRSTITTLEMOUSE.
There is also just me and my hubby as well. We have no debts at all but our shopping was a lot each week. However, last month, we managed to save £40 off our food bill and that £40 is in our pot. I know its not loads but its a start. I have been budgeting around £45 per week.
Smugness all round then I think :jMortgage FreeSave £5,000 in 2020[CENTER:j0 -
Well done :j and congratulations to you both:beer: !
You have every right to feel smug with yourselves! May not be much, but if that happens every month, you will have quite a bit towards next Christmas!
Personally I didn't save any money this month BUT I've got two freezers still full with lots of home-made meals, still got bread in the freezer and milk in the cupboard AND I get paid this week  .
The only thing I was running low on this week was catfood (bought four trays instead of five plus forgot it was a five week month and should have bought six anywaylol).

Congratulations to you both! :T
I'll add this thread into the grocery challenge thread where everyone posts about how they are managing with their grocery budgets.

My 2 eat sandwiches of any kind as snacks made with my HM bread doorsteps as they cut it themselves, wraps, any muffins I've made or fruit or yogurt.
They both will also eat all the junk if its there but I've stopped buying it and they get the above now first instead of after.
Another snack they have at suppertime especiallyis cereal and milk.My self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).
Eldest son has his own house with partner & her 2 children (11 & 10)
Youngest son & fiancé now have own house.
So we’re empty nesters.
Daughter married with 3 boys (12, 9 & 5).
My mother always served up leftovers we never knew what the original meal was. - Tracey Ulman0 -

Sorry it has taken me so long to reply DH but yes, I always make stock out of the bones and usually make a chicken curry or something with the leftovers. There is always a soup lurking each week, made out of our Sunday roast! Its as elastic as they come!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Afternoon all
Well done mrstittlemouse and Ec12345 :T im amazed how much we have saved since the new year.... i opened a bank account in January with some of the contents of my "change tins" €250 :T and had enough of Januarys house keeping left to last me through This month..so all of Febs budget went into the bank too- so we now have €700 about £525 in there :j all money that would have have got eaten  and hubby only said today that he loves what we are eating now... there is only us 2..... so where did all the money go before
i have always cooked from scratch -but have now reduced the portions to "normal" sizes..and a bonus is the 4st 8lbs i have lost so far -whilst eating HM pies, pastries, bread, etc
I have that much wedged in the freezers n fridge that i have got "whoopsed" -nearly all meat-that im going to be really tight fisted with March too -so i can squirrel as much away as possible..
Its brilliant isn't it -and its all thanks to this lovely site :j-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -
Hello all, hope you're having a good month. Half way between paydays for me, and it's all going quite well this month. Been eating lots of veggie meals which has helped quite a lot. Discovered that my local Tesco has some interesting frozen veg like okra (£1-ish a bag) which are making for some tasty curries etc. Also benefited this week when my friend brought stuff round so we could make pancakes and left me the leftovers - flour, milk and eggs have been featuring heavily in my meals!! Still loving Home Bargains for cleaning stuff and toiletries, lovely 69p shampoo that smells of pink grapefruit, yum! 59p bleach and 89p washing powder, fantastic... though I must admit when I got a free trial bottle of new 'posh' Lenor this week it seemed positively luxurious :rotfl:Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0

Hi everyone,
Thank you for the tips on snacks, and FFM, I have written down those recipes you have given, and I will certainly be trying them out later. The fruit bread (if I succeed) will go down a treat, as im always buying this from Asda.
Well today, I had to venture to Asda for the following:
Soap Powder
Milk
Potatoes
cereal
crisps (for kids of course)
tea bags
grapes
strawberries
cooking chocolate
muffin cases
fruit loaf
eggs
Also got the kids some treats, and it came to a grand total of £29.56, so, I have updated my sig. I. should have just went to Lidl, and not bothered taking the kids shopping with me. Consider me having learned my lesson.
Hopefully I wont need to go shopping again until about Wednesday if im lucky, I might need f/f milk before then though, the kids go through milk like no ones business.

:T MRSMCAWBER,:TEC12345 :T Olliebeak and :T mrstittlemouse!!! You are an inspiration to me! I have not managed to save quite as much as you all, but am doing relatively well. Opened a savings account which now contains £150 (transferred £50 from a savings jar started at beginning of the year) and have paid off a couple of hundred at least on my CC, as well as still having money in the bank and not having to worry about having enough in there to cover the DD's at certain times of the month as I used to, before joining this, and the Live on £4000 for the whole year Challenge (Highly Recommended
)
I also now have freed up more money to buy more environmentally friendly, fairtrade and organic produce, which is impotant to me.
I too would like to thank you all for your yummy recipes, invaluable tips and support and wish you all the very best in your quests for a debt-free future with no money worries in sight! x x xLive on £4k a Year Challenge ~ #96 ~ £4000+CB ~ Spent:£702.53
