NSD for me. I'm trying to create meals with what is in the cupboard prior to the due big shop. Bleaching pantry mould so feel abit better about storing food in there (still only tins though).
On a more positive note, we put an offer in for a house today. Haven't had a response yet- hopefully Monday. However I am wishfully thinking about all the room for the chest freezer I've been dreaming about, rather than the ice-box we currently manage with!0 -
Thanks for the encouragement Bobbykins. I sometimes feel like a failure when I read how little some people spend and still end up with loads of food to live on!
No, no, no hun you mustn't beat yourself up - everyone is in different circumstances on here but with a common goal, to reduce their shopping bill. Personally i think you do fab with so little choice, we're very lucky here as have all the major supermarkets (with the exception of Lidl) within a short driving distance.
And tbh, my food spend doesn't altogether represent what we eat - i get things given to me sometimes by my gran, esp meat/veg. Her favourite saying is "Now i bought too much of this and me and your Grandad can't use it all so you'd best have the rest" - bless her! Plus me and my mam share bogof's - eg one time she'll buy something on bogof and give me the other one, the next time we need it i buy it and give it to her.
Take care

Hi everyone!
Spent £6.29 in tesco yesterday bringing our total to £48.29. Only need cream and few veggies for next week. We picked up a few bargins in reduced section (incl apple pie, chicken liver for d-boyfriend).
:rotfl: Also overcharged for reduced bread so got a double refund. :T
Thank you for advice about coupons honouring offers. DB picked one up for shavers, though they were a little reluctant.
I read about the best time for reductions in Tesco a while back but now can't remember. Can anyone remember? or share their experiences?
We have also done some bulk buying. Decided to divide each good by the number of weeks they last and add that to weekly budget.
We are doing really well saving for our 2009 Central American Adventure: £180 saved from g.challenge since beginning of year.
Well done everyone!! I love reading what you've been up to !!!!

Went shopping to Sainsbury's today instead of my usual Morrisons, had to to take my mum to John Lewis and it's next door so seemed silly not to. I was trying to stick to £15 but spent £25.93 instead  .
Anyway, Pork chops were on offer, pack of 8 for a fiver and bought some yogurts for DD that we can only get from Sainsbury's in addition to my list.
I've spent £89.23 of my £200 budget so far. I'm hoping for a quieter week next week. I should only have to buy bread, fruit, milk and yogs on my next shop on Tues as I have 6 out of 7 meals in freezer or bought at least. The only spanner in the works will be my planned trip to Costco with MIL
I have asked OH if his addiction to Frostie cereal bars (£1.47 for 6) was up for negotiation. I will now be making him some flapjacks which he seems quite pleased about. Watch this space.........
Hope everyone has a nice weekend. Think of me whilst I'm cleaning the floor as I'm trying to potty train DD :eek:0 -

I've now got a 25kg sack of potatoes to keep my 10kg sack of basmati company. It cost £6 from the Friday market - it seemed like a bargain so I bought it. Did not have potatoes on my menu plan for about week, think I may change my plan.
Anyone know if it was a good deal?

hi. i spent another £13 on shopping today i could of lived of the tined stuff in the cupboard for the weekend, while DS is at his dads, but i got carried away at mr T's . DD wants to stay next week while she is of school, that will dent my GC budget, she is such a fussy eater, she wont eat any veg, anything with sauce, unless its chicken tikka curry, i can count on one hand the stuff she will eat, chicken, sausage (no skin or bits in them) bread (no butter or marg) mac d's as long as it plain, sausage rolls and the normal kids junk stuff (crisps, choc, etc)Back on MSE again! to take control of my finances and not let it control me. :T May grocery challenge £41.96/1400

Evening all. I did the challenge for January (£25pw) and still intend to do the challenge this month, BUT this week and next week I don't have any money for food at all. Now, even though this sounds bad I do reckon with my full freezer and cupboards I can just about make it. So, how would I put this in my challenge? I only had £12 last week, none this and none next, but I will be solvent and back on the normal challenge after that. (I hope
