Welcome toniwoty
I think the March thread should get posted in the next few days.
The best tip I can offer is to read the posts on this and other OS threads ... they are mega helpful and inspirational.
Good Luck0 -
hi all,
tried my best to get to the end of the month without writing a cheque in tescos, after all from tomorrow they no longer accept cheques.
I had to go shopping on friday - really had to there was things i needed, so this is where i excuse myself, i got a new recipe book, meal planned for the next week - get next weeks money out on friday - and went and bought everthing. it was quite expensive, but there are a few storecupboard items in there, so hopefully won't need to buy them again for a while.
Anyway i wrote a cheque:rolleyes:
only good thing is - i get money tomorrow, and this is the closest i have ever got to the end of the month - so although i am dissapointed, i am actually quite proud.
thanks for all your support in february - march starts tomorrow
ps - even just thinking about my gocery spending has cut it down by about £50 for the month!!!!:T

Well, I'd better confess to a massive overspend! Well in reality I way underestimated what I would spend and how I like to have full cupboards. I did want to live out the freezers/cupboards and just get fruit and veg - but hey ho! Can I put my final spend as £110. I will put myself down as £80 for the March Challenge. I'm going into hospital the first week in March and then will spend time recouperating at my mum and dads - so should really come under budget :rotfl: .
Have to stock pile a bit more cat food for when I'm away  .
Thanks for all the ideas and I find meal planning really helpful for using stuff up in the freezer and stopping me buying things all the time (god knows what my spend would've been this month had I not been trying to be good!)0 -
Managed a NSD today! But we are desperate for milk so will have to get some tomorrow. The only trouble with NSDays is that we don't get many £2 coins!!
Used up the bland minced lamb by adding loads of herbs, marmite, paprika, pepper etc and it was much better than last time! Also made use of the oven being on to make a batch of Twinks Hobnobs, and a Victoria Sandwich Cake.
Back to work and school tomorrow - Boo!
I've worked out a menu plan for the next two weeks, first using up things I've already got in the cupboards and freezer and then with a fairly big shop needed on the weekend split between Mr T and Lidl.
Good luck to everyone for the last few days. We are hoping to have £10 left over this month which would be great.:T
MRS MCAWBER PLEASE PUT US DOWN FOR £325 AGAIN FOR MARCH
Will post final total for the month on Friday.
TheBeesMortgage Free in 3 part 2 challenge - pay off £9000
Sealed Pot Challenge 416 - target £5000 -
I finally managed a nsd day today. Still stuffed my budget though it was set at £190 and it is currently at £250 and my month doesn't finish until friday 29th feb. So I'm not overly pleased with myself this month!!!
Next m,onth I shall try for £200. I wouldn't mind but i started these challenges in november and managed to come in under budget november and december!!!!! and they were still a static £200 per month-so it isn't like I drastically reduced it this month!!!

Well done everyone, totals added so far, of course I am aware some are not finished their month yet and will keep popping back. One day I might be more organised...........

Hi everyone
Well I wasn't expecting to do that well this month as although I have been buying fairly sensibly, I had stopped adding up the totals as I went along and convinced myself I must be over budget. I added it all up today and HOORAY!
TOTAL FOR FEB IS £223.58 (THANKS LIL ME)
I have done a storecupboard meal plan for the next few days and won't need anything else until payday at least, so that's it for me.
Will reduce total for March as it will be a 4 week month not 5 like last time!
SO AIM FOR MARCH £200 (THANKS MRS M)0 -
Hi guys, good to see you're all doing so well.
In fact I didn't actually spend anything from GC money over the weekend since DH was doing a huge wine shop anyway so a few extra quid on groceries wasn't noticed. but in the spirit of honesty I'll add in another £5 taking my total to £158.17 lil'me. (I always feel a bit rude shouting it like that especially when it's over budget and nothing to shout about at all)
Anyway been thinking about March and finding it v hard to predict - I don't know what direction DH will go when I'm away, I do leave food in the freezer but I can't see him eating that. Knowing him he might just live on weetabix and wine  . We are also talking about maybe going away over easter although haven't decided yet so that would have an impact on the budget as well. I'm thinking of going for a slightly higher target of £130 but will confirm on the March thread.
BTW I always have a lot of NSDs - I only really shop at weekends most of the time, it's the only way I can keep it under control
good luck for the final push for you daily shoppers.0
