    Hi savingfortravel

    You can add as much marscapone as you like... but about 50g should give it that creamy taste...you can always add more if you like ;)

    Next time you shop, have a look at the "basic pasatta" its usually a lot cheaper :T ..and you can soon add a pinch of mixed herbs, and fry off a chopped onion with the garlic or 2 to bulk out the bake..(watch the garlic doesn't burn or it tastes horrible;) )

    To vary it -you can add mushrooms, peppers etc and cook with the onion... i keep a bag of frozen one for this sort of thing..just defrost them and squeeze out any liquid and whack them in the pan :p , throwing in a handfull of frozen peas is lovely too as you get that fresh clean taste so that the bake isn't all soft n pappy in texture...
    Once you have done 1 you will soon be adding allsorts of bits n bobs ;)
    adding a pinch of ground chilli or a crushed dried chilli makes a nice change too -especially if you are using salami instead of tuna ..

    Glad you enjoyed the fish pie... its lovely when you start to feel confident in the kitchen isn't it :j ....you will soon be whacking all sorts of things together :D
    If you need any more recipes or help -just let me know and i will help if i can

    Will be having several lots of visitors next month so it will be a challenge,but have got DH into the swing.Poor soul even having quiche today,and we haven't had a takeaway all month.Not that I mind cos they are never brilliant round here.
    Belly pork,stuffing,apple sauce,loads of veg for lunch.2 large HM loaves in oven ,coleslaw made with HM mayonnaise for tea with quiche(which should do for a few feeds,but will take a slice to Mum)
    Leek and potato soup made ready for lunch tomorrow,bubble and squeak,cold meat and pickle for evening meal.
    Sorry that is as far ahead as my meal planning goes.
    Take care all

    Thanks

    Have a nice Sunday.

  • Second delivery of the month and after £15 I have:

    Apples - 5 - 750g
    Pears - 6 - 700g
    Oranges - 4 - 675g
    Chinese leaf - 525g
    Vine cherry tomatoes - 300g
    Pepper - 250g
    Onions - 5 - 450g
    Broccoli - 2 - 575g

    I saved myself £7.75 this week getting it delivered than going to Sains for the same items (this includes the fact that I get a 10% discount there and the chinese leaf was not organic either :eek: ). I'm going to be very skint when I can no longer get these deliveries in just over a months time :(.

    Spent = £32.49
    Left = £2.51

    Urgh I am over budget!
    Blame it on me being ill, half term, having to buy stuff for my packed lunches when I go back.... I dunno! Probably due to the fact that I'm a piggy more than likely!
    So I'm £125.52 when I was meant to be £110.... grrr.
    I'll try again with the £120.00 next month... I will do it!

    Un sou est un sou
  • Just been working out my figures and my total spend so far for the month is £74.24. Will need some milk between now and Friday, so will update total then.

    Hi Becky
    Softened 1 largish cleaned chopped leek in the last of my butter!
    Add a few chopped raw potatoes,tag end of an onion,then covered (just)with water.Season to taste,can add a chicken Oxo /stock cube if it needs a bit of a lift.
    Then blitz with magi stick or liquidise.
    Sorry not an exact cook,when kids were little we used to have YES soup because that was what was in it!!
