Had my tesco delivery and I'm now up to £76.12 spent. I still don't think thats bad as I have included loads of toilet rolls and washing powder this month to stock up. Have enough food to feed a small army as usual, but it seems to be going a lot further these days.
The BF caught me freezing some left over gravy yesterday, and just laughed at me. He stopped laughing when I explained that it was to go with his sausage cassorole and mash that is all ready for him for when I'm out tomorrow night. All leftovers. A few months ago he would have put a pizza in, which would have been a £1 or £2 off our budget. We are thinking of having kids soon, so we need all the money we can get!!!Money, money, money, must be funny....in a rich mans world.

Hi Frogmaster
I can see why you get cross when we ladeez "have a go" at our other halves, but I am sure I can speak for 99% of the posters when I say we don't really mean it.
I have been known, in the past, to make the odd derogatory remark about my beloved (and he IS, very beloved) OH but I would be incensed if anyone else tried to say anything not nice about him. I always intend it in a humourous(sp?) way, even if it doesn't come over like that
Perhaps it's a sad trait in us all today that we feel we have the right to be gently, lovingly and insincerely disrespectful about our OH's? I hope you will be able to take it "with a pinch of salt" if/when you see it.
Please don't take offence, I'm sure we would all be mortified if we thought we'd genuinely upset you.
cheers
Bobby. My humble opinion is that Ladies do very well these days and that in certain areas the male is the underdog. Oh! goodness me, I could go on and on with this, but I will stop the rant now as most of you have probably nodded off
.
Anyway back to more mundane matters. Went to Tesco Metro today for veggies and eggs. I was surprised that they had no boxes of 12 Tesco large free range, but only boxes of 6. Buying two of these would cost 23.31p per egg, so I had to get a box of 10 Big & Fresh which worked out at 19.80p each, but it doesn't say what their origin is.
Belated happy birthday mhe, hope it was a good one. :beer:0 -
Afternoon all
Will catch up on the last few pages after i've posted, inbetween doing my ironing.
I had to nip to Tesco this morning, spent £17 so will add that to sig in a minute. Total of £77 out of £200 so far so doing better than i thought. I think coming on here and posting about what i spend, when and what on helps me to think before buying needlessly - i have to come and confess my sins to you lot :rotfl:
Just the usual milk, bread, salad (for me, can't got enough of it), ham, crisps etc. Am having to make OH a packed lunch everyday which i dont normally have to but he's off work at the moment to make a start on our new house, plus if any of his mates come over to give a hand i like to feed them too. My microwave broke at the weekend so that put paid to my meal plan because its also our oven so i've had to juggle the meals so they can be cooked either on the hob or in the SC. We're having Spag Bol tonight.
Hope everyone is having a good day

MikeD, hope your dw is fully recovered
I spent £7.71 yesterday on fruit and veg, more than I would normally have spent but I've become a lurker on the 'Losing Weight the OS Way' thread and its motivated me to make some improvements in my diet :T
Good luck for the last half of the month everyone :j... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

I've updated my sig to reflect the milk that I've bought. Made some choc muffins and a banana loaf. Since doing our big shop at the beginning of the month we've only spent around £9 and £6 of that has been on milk! Starting to compile a list of the basics we will need when we next shop. Only 16 days till our new budget!!!!
Next week is half term so I think that might have a big impact on our budget thats left. Thanks for all the great recipe ideas....:rotfl:0 -
Hello! Some lovely recipes on here :T
Just updating, have now spent £47.68 so have £72.32 left and another £27.68 will be coming out for 2 more veg box orders so £44.64 left to play with.
With a weekly order for fruit, veg, butter, eggs and yogurt and plenty of meat and fish and pulses in stock and plenty of flour, sugar, spices etc all I really need is milk.
Making lots from scratch these days, bread, biscuits, cakes, soups etc., so our bills have come right down,I have just learnt to make risotto, which we love, and get aborio rice from asda but wonder if I can get it cheaper elsewhere.
My OH is wonderful and will always pop out to shops if I am tired (have cfs) and anything is needed, tbh wouldn't be able to manage without him! But he tends to shop at speed (bless) and I am trying to encourage him to scan the shelves for the best prices, I will have to work out the savings for him in real ale! :rotfl: That should do it!Our days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart rather than a piece of our mind.

Hi,
The boyfriend decided that it's my turn to cook for him tonight - he's always doing it - and announced that he wanted my "yummy enchiladas" (I don't think he's realised that they come from a kit!).
So I popped off to Asda at lunchtime and managed to spend £8.47 on one meal! Why? I'm a veggie (therefore needed quorn pieces) he's a confirmed meat eater (needed chicken), have run of cheese and of course the sneaky kit!
That has brought my budget up to a spend of £41.27 for the past two weeks with two more to go.
I had a £100 total budget for the month and this weekend's shopping will have to be a biggie as there's virtually nothing left in the house!
So only £58.73 left to spend. Bummer!:rotfl:0 -
Hi rachel
Don't know how "into" cooking you are -but i posted a dead simple recipe for HM flour tortillas on here yesterday... might save you quite a bit if you just had to buy one of the small seasoning kits next time BF wants them ...
i wang sliced onions n pepper in the oven to roast of, you could then divide them and put chicken in half and quorn in the other and pop it back in the oven to heat through....
Or you could set BF on when its his turn to cook lol-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -
I made traditional ratatouille niçoise for myself last night (no ubergine unlike that of the modern one) which was very tasty (if I do say so myself :rotfl: ) and my dad comented on how it looked like the kind he used to have when he was younger which is good :j . I'm going to be making myself cucumber maki later on today which I'm looking forward to now I've got a sushi mat (early valentines pressie from my BF) as I will be able to roll MUCH better than before  . Have spent £2.49 on nori since last report. I also can state what I recived in my fruit and veg box last week.
Bananas - 3 - 625g
Blood oranges - 5 - 675g
Satsumas - 6 - 225g
Pears - 4 - 775g
Apples - 4 - 725g
Vine tomatoes - 7 - 425g
Butternut squash - 750g
Courgettes - 3 - 550g
Leeks - 54 - 500g
Onions - 3 - 500g
Carrots - 7 - 825g
Garlic - 1 bulb - 25g :rotfl:
Purple sprouted broccoli - 500g
English greens - 500g
Potatoes - 12 - 1525g
I still think that for £15 that for all of that and delievery is a very good price. It keeps me out of the supermarkets a lot as mostly everything else I buy is from health shops and the like. When I do go in the supermarket I am soo suprised by how much everything costs (and I mostly go in Sainsburys where I get 10% discount and I still find it expencive). In Sains online I've put everything in that I got delieverd and got to £23.60 with the satsumas, greens and the butternut squash not being organic AND the broccoli not purple sprouted but normal organic broccoli so with discount would still be £21.24  . A saving of £6.24 without even considering delievery. No wonder I bee line straight to the reduced sections when I'm there. I don't have that kind of money to spend and I want to eat well. An 18 year old should not have to put their health to shatters because they don't have enough money to eat good food. I'm now on JSA and so get very little money but just enough to support myself (quite a sum goes to rent as I'm not entittled to HB which is fair enough). Shops that sell junk food cheaper than fruit and veg should be ashamed of themselves  .
Valentines meal tomorrow is going to be :
Starter for me :cucumber maki, pickled ginger (to cleans the palet between each maki) with soy sauce dip. Not sure about BF yet
Main for me : sweet and sour veg, rice and seaweed
Main BF : Beef chow mein with egg fried rice
Afters : Slow Cooked rice pudding made with rice milk
Spent = £17.49
Left = £17.51I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy0 -
