Hold on, who has not got knife's in their home?

Unless it's an illegal knife (flick knife), they've done no wrong. As he's not been charged, just complain to the police about the so called 'raid' and on what basis was it conducted. Don't mention this other officer, as you have no proof - it will soon get back to him if he did arrange it.

Even if it was a flick knife ,they're not illegal to own.

Thats not true. It is illegal to own a flick knife unless it was bought before the 1959 restriction of offensive weapons act.

Lock knives on the otherhand can legally be owned at home and in fact carried around with you (if you have a good reason for carrying it)

The law doesn't say anything about owning one unless you were going to sell it. If you've got a link to somewhere saying they're illegal to have I'd like to see it.

The 1959 offensive weapon act made it illegal to sell a flick knife. Therefore if you own a flick knife in your house and this flick knife was acquired after 1959 then it has been bought illegally and can therefore be confiscated by the police.
The only way you can legally have a flick knife in your house would be if it was bought before 1959 when it was legal to do so.

The following links both say its illegal to own a flick knife, i am sure there are other links, these are just the first two that came up

If everything is legal, then he has nothing ro worry about does he. The best way is to let the police go about their business. Let them see there is nothing to hide. They wouldnt have taken these knives if they were ok..

That might cut it the first time they come round.. but once it starts becoming a regular thing op has every right to be annoyed, despite having nothing to hide.

So, is it illegal to buy such a knife abroad and bring it back into the UK?

Also, does the sale of the knife have to be established, or is the simple logic that you are not old enough to have bought it before 1959 sufficient?

Yes I believe so. I'm not an expert on this but I think it's illegal to import them. It's definitely illegal to walk around with one so just the act of taking it from the airport to your house would break the law. You could perhaps post it from a foreign country directly to your house but I would think that was also illegal

If the knife you own was given to you by someone who had bought the knife before 1959 then I assume that would be legal.
