No Buying Unnecessary toiletries in June

Val - I realised it was an odd thing to say that my body scrubs had probs :rotfl: I haven't got a huge stash of scrubs as I've always struggled to remember to use them. I'm sure that they would be good for my skin though so I'd like to get into the habit of using them (this challenge is partly about developing better self-care habits as well as everything else
). Anyhow, I've had three scrubs in use for ages and I was trying to figure out why I wasn't using them. I have...
Urban Decay 'Joe Glow' - very old, not very nice but I'm about half way through this and I will UU
Balance Me peppermint scrub - smells gorgeous and I love Balance Me but the formula is really weird. (Deffo WNBA) It isn't very scrubby and doesn't really spread. I think it has too much shea butter in it (or something). It just kind of sticks to me in a clump! :rotfl:It's in a great big, awkward pot as well.
I was given a pot of Philosophy Senorita Magarita ages ago. Again, it smells fab (and I love the neon green colour) and it's the scrubbiest of the lot but I'm not using it because of the huge, open pot. I tried using it pre-shower (as you're meant to) but it was too harsh. Also, the oil in it makes the shower lethally slippery!
I will use all these up but I decided to open the Bliss one to try and see if I just don't get on with scrubs and/or what the barriers to UU the others were. I used the Bliss Vanilla & Bergamot pre-shower yesterday and it was lovely. (It was in a heavily reduced Christmas set - however lovely it may be it's not worth the full price ). I'm going to concentrate on using the Bliss one this month so I can get into good body scrub/moisturising habits
That is what I meant by 'probs' with the existing body scrubs! :rotfl: (I feel quite ridiculous having written all that down but I know I'm in the kind of company that might understand :rotfl::))
Ah, I see what you mean. I much prefer oilier scrubs. I had a Burts Bees one once that sounds like it was similar to the Balance Me one. The instructions said that you had to add water to it and then apply it to your skin. The problem was that adding water made it run out of my hand and down the drain.sunshineyday wrote: »
now it's confession time, I have an epic fail on the no buying front
I've been having trouble sleeping, or rather staying asleep, so I thought I would try elemis quiet mind pillow spray, but of course my buying didn't stop there - I tried the quiet mind temple balm in the store and it was instant love, that would have been fine but elemis have an offer on so also came home with the following freebies:
Elemis quiet mind bath elixir x2 (very nice SA gave me an extra one
Elemis pro collagen bust and neck serum
Elemis tri-enzyme facial cleanser
Elemis pro collagenquartz serum
I may also have bought the frangipani shower gel after the SA told me about the 10,000 points offer:o
I'm just going to whisper that I'm also waiting for this to be delivered

I'll be on the naughty step for quite some time I think:o:o:o
(p.s. - no idea what is going on but the font keeps changing!)
happy pampering, xo
Nice haul there. The L'Occitane kit looks lovely too. Have you tried the Verbena before? It is so zesty.rosemary54 wrote: »had a lovely tea as well(diet ,what diet?) then home to sit by the fire(yes I do know it's June) and cheese and wine whilst DH finally chose our holiday house for me to book today:j)
still no more ebay bids:(someone is getting a bargain if there are no more!of course it is the one item I could have used easily myself that is sold!!
Ooh where are you planning on going onyour hols rosemary? I'm getting quite giddy about my cruise now and bought a dress at weekend. Still have a fair bit of weight to lose though. I too have been bad dietwise this weekend - 2 x trips to the cinema including popcorn and icecream.
I have a watcher on ebay but no bids. It won't make me rich soon then?Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

Before I found all of you I was setting my own funny little targets like 'Body Lotion Of The Week' to make myself appreciate what I had :rotfl:I seem to do better if I rotate products (I was even happy to return to S&G Righteous Butter as I hadn't used it for ages!)
I rotate my shower gels as well. This week I'm on fruity/zesty - am using Soap & Glory Sugar Scrub, Dove Pomegranate shower gel and Boots Fairtrade Extracts Mango body butter.Penny-Pincher!! wrote: »Have used up a wash and go shampoo and a shower gel and opened a new bar of soap.
Wow, wash and go that's a blast from the past! Had you had this in your stash a long time?TA Clinique mascara- WBA as I liked the texture and it made my lashes look fuller. Shame it did go a bit clumpy at the end. Even cleaned the wand as suggested here but alas it didn't work.
This is also my 400 UU!!
My HG Tigi texture paste is also spluttering. I have a few more in the stash.
Congrats on your 400th UU. How long have you been doing the challenge?
I'm having quite a slow month for UUs however it's day 6 and still no unnecessary spends. Yay me. It will be worse on 15th though as that's pay day and I'll probably want to "treat" myself however I'm aiming to buy a new exercise DVD instead of toiletries. We're doing The Biggest Loser one at the mo and though I really like it and it's working I'm getting bored. Am thinking of getting the other one by them - New Year New You which has more work outs on it to choose from.
Have repainted my nails and am wearing OPI Lunch at the Delhi. One of my all time faves. Beautiful bright coral colour.
Anyway signing off now as it's time to go lift some dumb bells.Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

UU TBS cranberry body scrub WNBA I prefer a scrubbier scrub.

UU TBS dreams unlimited body butter WMBA once I have cleared the mountain of BB in the stash.
Ins LIB beauty box, Pixi lip gloss, melvita rose cleanser, day cream, a balm thing, dry conditioner and Elemis body cream (also a tanning mitt).0 -

Oh.
Lush drive me mad with the chemicals they put in their products (especially SLS) but I do admire them for their stance on this:

I'm glad that I'm not alone in this! That sounds like a delicious combo of products
I had a little sorting out/shuffling around of my products and am feeling happier. I'm clear about what I'm trying to UU but I've also opened a posh Lierac moisturiser (from Joliebox, I think) as my skin could do with a boost. It promises all sorts of Good Things! :rotfl:I've also sorted out a little group of Summer perfumes to brighten me up but I'm so fickle that I'll prob mix and match from my other perfumes. I just liked the idea of Summer perfumes and they look cheerful grouped together :rotfl:

I read the article and I felt that they are doing a noble job. Sure it's business and they want to expand, but they also are making it clear that they are against the Chinese gov allowing animal testing of their products. I can see how it makes them look bad from the outside, but they stated that their mission is to change the perception of women's rights and animal testing once they get there. I think they have a long and hard road in front of them, but if they can do it, then all power to them.
I do however see that when there are companies like Lush who won't enter the Chinese market due to their animal testing policies, it does make UD look money hungry, but like i said, if they mean what they say and that they want to make some change once they get their foot in the door, then good for them.No Buying Unnecessary Toiletries Challenge

but is doesn't make sense? They were built on a no animal testing/ vegan basis. By doing this they are going against everything they stand for. They may say they are not, but they are condoning what the Chinese Government want to do by allowing this. Im not sure why they even need to enter China, except for money! It will take years for them to change a very backward view on animals rights, and how many animals will have been killed before they win their war? Im sorry, but i think they have been complete sell outs on this one!Total debts = [STRIKE]£3116[/STRIKE], [STRIKE]2216[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£2066[/STRIKE][STRIKE]£1916[/STRIKE][STRIKE]£1766[/STRIKE][STRIKE]£1616[/STRIKE][STRIKE]£1466[/STRIKE][STRIKE]£1316[/STRIKE][STRIKE]£1166[/STRIKE][STRIKE]£1016[/STRIKE]£866

Every time I read this thread I hear about something else I want to try!
(today, señorita Margarita body scrub and L'occitane verbena shower gel).
Another UU this morning. Shaving gel from Poundworld called Gemini or something. Did the job OK but the can corroded something chronic in the shower and by the time I was squeezing out the dregs I was getting stripes of rust down my legs. So WNBA, would pay the extra for something with a non-rusty can!
Good luck with the pre-holiday weight loss VALM and Rosemary. Wish I had your willpower. If I wasn't in a running club I think I'd be a competitor on The Biggest Loser!0
