  • Are the ottoman beds heavier to move around the room, compared to metal frames / divan beds?

We are on our second ottoman bed, I love it. Fits so much underneath much more than draws and easier to access if space is limited.
Wins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.

Yes, got an ottoman double sleigh bed from ebay for £136. Bargain of the century. Very handy to store all my shoes! Am trying to use it for other stuff too. We often forget about it though. BF has started using it a bit more. I'd try to store things you don't often need in it.

(Also got the most amazing mattress from Bensons for Beds which they stopped selling last week. Shame, cos I highly recommended it.)

As above, they're not heavy to lift, they basically lift themselves! Can be a bit heavy to close sometimes though.

Mine has a sort of 'ground sheet' attached to the underneath of the bed. All the stuff stored inside the bed goes on top of the plastic sheet base. We have had to drag the bed in and out, but it's not easy! All the stuff in it therefore has to slide across the floor with the bed.

Don't forget that most Frame types of Ottoman have slats that the mattresses sits on. This will cause dust to get in underneath on top of all the stuff you are storing.

A divan style has a solid lid, so therefore no dust.

Also 99% of Divan style Ottomans are UK made, most frames are imports.

We used the plastic cover that the mattress came in as a sort of envelope to store our items underneath to stop them getting dusty.

Has anybody had any issues with weight limits with the Ottoman beds?

I've found a really comfortable double mattress that weighs around 64kg, but I'm told to be careful putting heavier mattresses on ottomans. I can't seem to find any discussions on this online.

An ottoman would be ideal for me due to its space saving features, but comfort is more important and I don't want to sacrifice a good mattress just for an ottoman. If needs be I may have to look at Duvans instead. Can anyone help please?

    Thanks

If you get a decent ottoman you'll be fine, are you after a Divan style or frame style?

The old English Bed company and Tempur make very very good Divan style ottomans. Sorry can't help with frames.

But look at spending £600 upwards.
