Do you have an ottoman bed? Do you like it?

I got caught up in a 'bargain' bed from Tesco thread that was posted on hotdeals around a year ago.
I bought it and it was anything but a bargain. Biggest waste of money, cheap rubbish. It was 'only' a single bed for my daughter and she's only 12 and a size 8 so it did her for wee while but she's uncomfortable now and we need to replace it.
I'm going to buy her a double this time, her room can take it and it would be handy if we needed to swap sleeping arrangements around in the event we had family staying overnight on the very odd occasion.
I also thought an ottoman version would be useful, we do have rather a lot of spare duvets and sheets etc.
But having bought badly recently, I'm anxious to not repeat the mistake.
I saw these in Bensons....

...but am not sure if they are ok or will simply not last.
Any thoughts?
Do you have an ottoman bed? Was it expensive or a cheapo? Are you happy with it?
I've looked on a few sites and they all seem very similar. :undecided

Ottoman? From where?Herman - MP for all!0 -
I'd rather have one with drawers, I should imagine the otterman one is rather heavy to lift.0

We've always had divan bases with drawers on all our beds previously.
I've found the quality has lessened over the years even in supposedly named brands.
The drawer bases become thinner, the fixings become more plasticky etc etc.
The ottoman wasn't heavy, there was a display one instore to try, it had gas lifts.Herman - MP for all!0 -
I have had one for the past 3 years and I love it. Mine is a superking size and the top section has drawers and the bottom half is an ottoman. We got ours from a family run bed shop in Glasgow who make all their own beds. Our previous bed from there lasted 20 years and the base was like new when we decided to get a new one. We could have got away with just getting a new mattress but I wanted the extra space.0

Yes we have an ottoman bed, we've had it for about two years now. Yes I really like it, we keep all our spare bedding (inc duvets, pillows and bedspreads) under there and I've also been storing all my daughters clothes ready to hand down to the next baby. Everything stays clean and dust free.
Ours is really comfy, solid and sturdy. It's a sweet dreams model and I think it cost us between £500-600. If you're interested I can look up the model for you later if it's labelled on the bed.
It's quite high off the floor though, kind of like the height you'd get in a hotel. It's not a problem at all for us, but may be something to consider if thats an issue.0 -

Yes please.
No height wouldn't be a problem.Herman - MP for all!0 -
Just been to have a look, it's the Organic Cotton 1500. It's this one:

Just seen it on a few other sites when I googled for it, all about the same price as what we paid. We got it from Co-op bed shop (which had various codes and vouchers) but last time I looked it was no longer there.
The mattress is medium/ firm, but with a very soft layer on top. The bed itself is great, the storage bit is lifted easily with very little force and it opens from the side. Mattress is on top of a sort of rubbery base, so that it doesn't fall off when you lift the storage bit up.
Was really pleased with the quality when we got it.0 -
They do look rather good. However, I am working on not owning so much stuff and I think one of these would just encourage us to hang on to more... but I am tempted.
We are currently sleeping on mattresses on the floor and researching beds ourselves. Can I assume with an ottoman bed, the mattress is the exact width of the bed (our room is small and every inch counts either side of the bed, but I don't want a divan)I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0
