I use FB I'm neither braindead or addicted. It boils down to common sense, I see the people I work with 5 days out of 7, after they cracked down on social networking, I blocked all work colleagues from viewing my FB. I'm a firm believer in keeping your work/social life seperate. I've seen people lose their jobs for posting stupid stuff on the internet, including blogs defaming the company, a so called whistleblowing group on fb that had pics of the company 'breaching H&S'.

I don't believe you were sticking up for the company if indeed you were, they would not of suspended you. Baring in mind they would of viewed the evidence for themselves or the person grassing you up would of shown them on a phone/printout.

Sorry if it sounds horrible but if you signed something saying you understood it and then you breach it, they have you over a barrel without a leg to stand on.

You aren't. Neither do I and I don't want one. I find that talking to my friends - real friends - by phone or e-mail if I can't see them in person does quite well, thank you. But then if I think my employer is an idiot, I discuss it with the cat, who hasn't ever told anyone else.

    Hi marybelle

    Me neither!

I don't work anymore but when I did I was lucky enough to have employers who were truly wonderful so OP's dilemma would not have occurred. I have also talked to various cats for many years - you are not alone!

    Good Evening all

I work for a Large retail organisaon for over 5 years

we all signed a piece of paper regarding social network sites and using them

A person in work was treated quuite badl " in my opinion " they slagged of the company and they are in trouble.

I made a comment about there situation " I cant say what I said becasue they might know who I am on here

basically I havent mentioned the company directly in my reply or mentioned any namesdirectly but because I was directly responding to there post. I have been suspended pending a investagatory meeting

I would be grateful if any one qualified legally can inbox me and I can give you personally the low down on whats happened I am with my union in work and I am awaiting a leetter to attend the hearing / meeting about my comments

I look forward to hearing from someone shortly

    Ps

can any recommend and free legal advice web sites
and please give me the correct defination of gross misconduct

    Hi curly boy

Don't forget this is an open forum where people are free to discuss any issues without being offensive or rude. I suspect what you are really after is peace of mind. I agree with other posters, if you have a Union then approach them in the first instance. If not then have a word with CAB they will not judge you and do have access to all manner of databases about legal issues. Finally, most solicitors will offer brief advice free or something like a fixed fee for half an hour, but you will need to find one who has some knowledge of employment law because not all solicitors are expert in everything!

    Best of luck

Consider yourself a very lucky man.

Unfriend any work colleagues, set your FB profile to Private and if something happens at work that really, really riles you, learn to keep a handwritten diary/journal.

Good luck and keep your nose clean in future.
 Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway...
