I really don't know much no, they are contacting vets to get more info as they don't have much on her atall. When I called to have the chip changed she had a different name also. How would I go about finding out more ? Would hate to think of someone missing her.0

Oh needs to change my glasses... sorry.. just noticed your vet said she was older.. sorry....0

Previous owners will be in chip's history0

There may be mistake on the chip details?
Vets can estimate age by looking at dog's teeth?
I may be cluching at straws here but..... really feel for you .. and for Kia...
Big Hugs XXX
Vet just said looks a little older than 5 but shes booked in for her teeth to get done next month so probably would have told me more then. Kia was a bit nervous first time I took her to our vet (was to get fatty lump checked) so she couldn't get a good look.
Thanks
Just need to get on with it I guess and remember that she is an old lady. 0 -

Is this restricted from my view? It is with petlog and when I log in I don't see chip history.0 -
It probably is..... but if she was chipped and lost with someone looking for her - they would have notified Pet Log about her missing....
When Chloe, one of my cats went missing - first thing I have done was to register her on all posible sites and notife Pet Log.
But 10 years ago... internet was not as it is today...0 -
This is true, she could have been lost as a very young pup.
hopefully we will be able to get a bit more about her history, i've known the pain of having a missing pet but she came back 2 years later with our 4 doors down neighbour and a new name , she remembered us though and is often in my mums house.
I think Kia is the benjamin button of dogs, if anything I think she looks younger than she did when I got her a few months ago, guess that's cos their is happiness and love in her life now. Ahwell she will have all the attention and love she needs in her later years of life.0 -

Unfortunately, that's where it went wrong for the woman from FOA's dog.
She was scanned, but the chip company didn't contact the original owner, they just granted the change of owner even though the dog was listed as 'missing' on the chip record.
This probably hasn't happened with Kia, but I'd want to check, just because the rescue got her age wrong when the info was right there, I"d be concerned they might have been a bit lax in checking other details too.0 -
Aww Con I don't think you are being silly at all.
Joint sticks are supposed to be good, and also older dog food will have more supplements in. I changed Tyson to Autarky Autumn when his joints got bad and it seems to be suiting him.
Tyson seem to decrease in age when I had him too, he is pretty much back to being a puppy now despite being 7! I try not remind him how old he actually is though
I think being happy and settled really does do wonders for them.
Just think though, if people knew how old she really was then she would have been a lot harder to home and may not have had the chance of the wonderful life she has now

I know, I would't have had her if I knew her age tbh as I said a dog no older than 5, and it breaks my heart to think of her dying without a proper home.
We are thinking of getting a pup in about a years time, hopefully a pup wouldn't be too much for her.0
