Can anyone pls tell me the tel no. to phone & check on applications? And can a child's first passport be fast tracked over the phone?0

I'm really panicking now - didn't realise Dh's passport only had 5 months to run & we need 6 months for our holiday that's already booked - sent off on the 21/5 & we're supposed to be flying out on the 9/6 - looks like we won't be able to go & will have to forfeit our money too.
are you sure you need 6 months? Not that it matters now...hope you get it back in time.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
As someone already suggested you can fast track your passport at any point (I have done this myself). But only if its a replacement or a renewal. I went to Liverpool passport office with my sister and did the 1 week service last week. We got the passport back in 4 days.£100 - £10,0000

In all fairness, the Passport office say it takes a minimum of 3 weeks anyway - and you've done it during a double bank holiday period at the beginning of what I imagine is the busiest time of the year for applications!
Thanks for the info - our fault for not checking the validity but I understand most countries (if not all) require at least 6 months left on your passport at time of exit of that country now. I'll ring first thing on Wednesday & if necessary DH will have to drive to Durham!! A fast track will cost an extra £52.00 but its worth it not to have my stomach churningSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
I sent mine away the 15th May and it is not back yet, I fly out the 13th June. I was on phone to them all day Friday trying to get an appointment for FT but at end of the day, 4.30pm I was told it had just been printed in the last hour. Checked online and indeed it was printed, to allow 1-5 working days for delivery so bearing in mind the bank holiday I am hopeful it will be here in time !!
Please don't delay yours - if its needing renewal do it soon as !! Unfortunately ours was outwith our control as they were taken during a breakin in our house and I did not realise until I went to sign one for my friend and needed my passport number - had he not asked me to sign his I probably wouldn't have noticed til it was too late.0 -

I think it's only countries outwith EU that you need 6 months on, Spain I know you only need to have it last until your departure date.0 -

Well no - some countries do ask for 6 months, but many do not (including some you think would). As to the proportions - no idea.
You'll find tour operators and travel agents tend to err on the side of safety rather than giving factually correct advice0 -
I emailed their tracking system & I've been told that the passport has been processed & passed for issue today. Fingers crossed that it arrives fairly quickly - thanks to all for your help & suggestions - my tums not churning so much now!!Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0
