Managed to pick up one of the Panasonic triple phones at T's and got £90 back! If i take it back, what will they refund me? It says £84.99 on the receipt - but it's been written on so it it's not a "golden ticket".0

I popped into tesco near work (barking) and picked up a few fruit and veg reductions.
As I was wandering down the meat aisle I noticed the half price offer on pork leg joints. The shelf label clearly said large pork joints were £2.99 per kg. Sitting at the front of the display were 4 joints that did not have the red half price sticker on them.
Having thoroughly checked that the bar codes were the same and taking a quick photo of the shelf label just in case, I picked up 3 of them (one looked a bit ropey) and headed for the checkouts.
After paying full price for them I headed to customer services to draw their attention to the error.
The lady at CS was helpful and went away to check but came back with a label for pork loin. We then went back to the shelf display together and i pointed out where I had got them from. She was happy with my conclusion but then a staff member from the meat area tried to convince her that the four joints had been moved from somewhere else and she should speak to the duty manager.
Back we went to CS where she then called him. I went through the whole story again, even revisiting the shelf before he eventually agreed that they were incorrectly priced.
I left the shop with 3 free joints of pork.
Always persist !! It pays off big time.0 -

Yes this is unfortunately the problem with the policy. Although you're only doing what Dotty did in the advert, and hence Tesco actively encouraged (finding price mistakes) they will do all in their power to stop you. I'd avoid the store for a while.I am firmly across the line. I won't impose my values on you if you keep away from mine.

It does amuse me how the policy is applied differently in various stores.
I went to a different branch the other day and found that they had left the BOGOF offer label on shreddies and discovery fajita kits so I got four of each. I went to CS and the guy there couldn't have been more helpful and even told me about the DTD policy !! In fact he cocked up the amount I was owed and refunded me more than I had paid.
I had a long dispute at a branch closer to home over an incorrectly labelled leg of lamb. They tried to make out that they "knew" for a fact that there were only 2 of the old stock which had been reduced and that I must have removed the reduction label (which i hadn't) but I stood my ground and insisted that they could check to see how many had gone through the checkouts. Needless to say after 10 minutes more wait I got the leg for free.
It took 4 members of staff to sort it out and I hated the inference that I was trying to fiddle them.
Always be polite and stick with it. Refer them to their checkout systems and CCTV if need be !!0 -

When I told them to call the police if that was the case as they were accusing me of fraud it conveniently turned into another customer they'd already had arrested that they were referring to.
I can understand them getting stroppy about giving DTD but I've never understood why so many CS staff and (especially) managers are prepared to tell blatent lies to try and get out of paying it!0 -
Thanks for this thread, Never had the guts to ask for a DTD now i know the policy i think i will refer to this next time as they always refund the item and resell it back at the price on the label..... i may just keep my eyes peeled for some of the amazing meat offers....1% challenge £2015.50 = £20.16
Make £2.50 a day £80.82/77.50
Sealed pot opening Nov 2018: ???
Going back to being to basics. And penny pinching in 2018 This will be my year 😘0 -

The first time, or the first time in a different store or with a different staff member can be a bit worrying because you are never sure of their response. But what you need to remember is that this is a policy introduced by Tesco and that Tesco expect the staff who work for them to follow this policy, I believe it is just that some staff or even stores resent the policy - usually because they are rubbish at their job of correctly pricing goods.
Next time you are not offered dtd automatically just say that you read on their customer service sign that it should be dtd and hopefully they will just give it - majority of times it is given automatically, now and again they need a reminder and very occasionally it needs to be insisted upon.
Beware though it is addictive.:D And good luck.0 -
